LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT THE ADVENTURE I HAD TODAY
ON THIS GRAND FINE DAY OF SUNDAY
THE LAST DAY OF ANIME BOSTON 2014
So since I couldn’t go to the Attack on Titan panel premiere yesterday afternoon, we went to the encore premiere at 11 this morning. We lined up around 10, and the line was like a fourth or fifth of what it was yesterday, so we were actually relatively close to the front! They showed us the first five episodes, as opposed to yesterday when they only showed the first three. And I’m honestly very impressed by the dub! I can’t say much more than that c:
After that, we decided to run to the Sheraton to see if we could get autographs, and we ran into Greg Ayres on our way there! He’d just gotten back from Johnny Cupcakes |D and we talked for a bit. HE’S SO NICE, UGH.
They weren’t doing autographs, but while we were meandering around the Sheraton we found this line for a thing, and the staff told us it was a voice acting panel, so I was basically like, “I HAVE TO GO. I HAVE TO COME FINISH WHAT I STARTED.” And the room the panel was in was gigantic. We couldn’t have taken up more than a quarter or the room even though there were probably at least 200 of us. I had no idea which voice actors were going to be there so I was just like HECK IT LET’S GO.
And nearly all of them were there. Trina Nishimura (AGAIN I SAW HER LEGIT EVERY DAY OF THIS CON), Cristina Vee, Linda Ballantyne, John Stocker, Toby Proctor, Josh Grelle, Matt Mercer, and Kyle Hebert. They were all there. I was baffled because I was suddenly bombarded with the chance to pass on messages from Cody and Jonah so YOU BEST BELIEVE I GOT IN LINE. And when I got to the front I thanked all of them for being inspirational and told them about how I had friends who were starting to get some footing and how I thought they were really going to go somewhere in life.
And after the clapping, Trina was like “HEY! I remember you! It’s good to see you again! OH DID YOU TELL THEM ABOUT THE THING”
by which she meant Attack on Space
and I was like no and she just said TELL THEM ABOUT THE THING.
So I was like “AHAHA YEAH UM so there are a group of us online who do fan voice acting for Attack on Titan, and we do this parody radioplay called Attack on Space”
and there’s just this collective whoop from people in the audience which surprised me so I was like “OH. YEAH. HI. UH. I’M MIKASA IN THAT. HEY.”
AND THE ENTIRE AUDIENCE JUST FREAKS THE FUCK OUT AND I WAS COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED LIKE. AN ENTIRE BALLROOM OF PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT ATTACK ON SPACE. PEOPLE KNEW WHO WE WERE. And that was when I explicitly named Cody and Jonah and stuff and was like “Hey guess how old our Levi is. Sixteen. And he legit sounds like Levi.”
THE LOOK ON MATT’S FACE??? I?????? AND KYLE JUST LOOKED AT HIM AND SAID “Welp looks like you’ve got some competition” and Matt said “Well, he can get better, I’m just getting older.”
And they just were super chill about it and such, and after the panel was over Kyle and Matt came down to do autographs and selfies and such, and when Matt handed me back my notebook after signing it, he told me, “Good work, by the way, I’ve actually seen a few episodes of your stuff.”
And I was COMPLETELY FLOORED AND WAS JUST LIKE WAIT REALLY and he said “Yeah, someone sent me a link a few weeks ago, good job,” and I told him I was honored and would tell the 104th about it and he said “Yeah, please do.”
MATT MERCER HAS WATCHED ATTACK ON SPACE
I CANNOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED TODAY
NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL EVER IF IT WEREN’T FOR TRINA NISHIMURA
