just FYI, I seem to be hiring myself out to small scale private functions, mainly for my own bemusement and people shovelling food into me afterwards. tonight was a school ball. conversations included: teacher: would you like a spring roll? student: no, I ate a whole pizza before I got here. student 1: I want to hug her! student 2: you don't even know her. student 1: I didn't even know you in year 8 and now we hug all the time! probs had a better time there tha at my own school ball tbh. We forget and remember this again and again, but the most important thing to remember is we are free. I would like to extend this sentiment to all creative-related industries. I changed out of my costume in the stinkiest toilet ever into something that maybe won’t entice a man to openly grope me in front of his (I assume) partner and tracking me down later with tears in his eyes and a $100 apology (because we can monetise that shit now obvs). We talked. I suggested that even if he DID think I was a mannequin, handing me like that was still perverse and at its root, misogynistic. He agreed. Maybe at that point he would have agreed with anything I had said because he was feeling that terrible. I know I should’ve gone to the police but I was being a statue. I find it hard to talk to figures of authority at the best of times. I often doubt the good they would do if I had instigated an intervention. I think this was better this time.
