âit does, doesnât it?â he smiled wryly, feeling the sadness in his quirked lips. there is something tugging low in his stomach, something sinking and dreaded as he contemplated sameerâs words. the events that took place only moments before did feel like a movie and rowan felt like an actor out of place; almost as if he had stumbled onto a set he had no business of being on. he looked away from the other man briefly as very prominent waves of loathing and nausea interspersed his bouts of anxiety. if evie had been murdered then rowan already knew that his mental state would be unable to handle it â he had already suppressed enough deaths for a life time and he was aware that he wouldnât be able to just smile and forget about this one. in fact, he was hardly able to get over his previous issue as he had actually come to this island just to erase all the memories of the bad things he had done before. but being here and witnessing all this drama made it feel like he was back to square one. âoh, i â yeah, actually. thanks, man.â rowan attempted to say calmly but his voice ended up cracking on the last two words. he most definitely would need more than one joint to get this sick feeling out of his stomach and clear his mind, but he had his own stash hidden away inside his room. his careful fingers plucked the half smoked joint out of sameerâs hands and rowan was quick to place it between his lips, breathing it in almost manically. and it isnât long before he feels the rush of blood to his head, the instant calm.
he offered sameer a quick smile as his stomach soared upwards, landing somewhere in his windpipe, and his hands suddenly felt charged. a small, twisting feeling was writhing through him. âyou donât think someone in this house⌠um, hurt her. right? i mean, it was probably an accident or something.. â thereâs no way someone could just kill her.. maybe her shoe just.. ended up on the beach after she fell and drowned. thatâs the only explanation. i mean, they wouldnât let us stay if there was a killer on the loose, yeah?â rowan rambled, his anxiety bubbling away inside of him.
The first thought that crept into his mind after the flashing lights and sirens were confirmed to be cops, were to make sure his stash was carefully untraceable and well hidden. Next, was to make sure any evidence of drugs was out of the clear; the strong smell filling up his room was rather a burden for him now, seeing as he smoked just enough for him to numb any kind of sick twisted feeling whirling inside of him. âYou should come in,â he wasnât one for inviting guests into his room, but if Rowan was going to ramble (just like he always does) and with him constantly being one of the company here who knew of Sameerâs bad habit of depending on certain drugs, he might as well made sure he was far away from the cops. An eye for an eye, heâd like to call it. Survival has always been the most important thing for him growing up. He pulled the door knob back and widened the gaps in between his figure and the door, leaving just enough for the other to walk through. Despite his unstable and hazy state, his eyes were still suspicious and careful around his surroundings; his slightly red eyes shifting from left to right before he closed the door behind him, locking it just in case.
It was clear to see that Rowan cared more about the disappearance of Evie among the duo. The twenty-two-year oldâs heart shook just a little as Rowan began to allow his words to run off his tongue; his unsettling heart wasnât caused from the possible theories the other had listed on Evie, but it was more of his sister and her safety. God knows what might happen if she were to be the next victim -- everyone might just burn in flames.
He stayed quiet, listening to each and every one of Rowanâs thoughts -- it was always like this between the two. Sameer not being much of a talker as he prefers to keep most things to himself while Rowan, seems to be the type whoâd let his woes off his chest. At least, thatâs what it looks like. âI donât know,â was all he said as he followed behind Rowan once the other had entered; his sweaty palms brushing along his jeans as he was beginning to itch for another joint. Perhaps if he smoked a bit more, or popped yet another pill he could escape the current matter -- but the cops were here and he needed to be, or at least act, sober if he didnât want to get caught. His words, however, were honest. He didnât know what could have happened to Evie (and quite frankly, he didnât want to think about it at all), nor did he exactly know what to say. He has always been brutally honest -- thereâs no way he could push the hard truth out there to Rowan.
âMaybe weâre living in a real life size game of Cluedo,â Sameer shrugged, pulling out a Febreeze and spraying it around his room -- a chuckle leaving his lips as he imagined his life as a gardener; the room freshener spray being his hose. God, what a life that would be. He could start growing greens. âI donât know Evie personally, but maybe she had herself a few enemies. I mean, fucking hell, everyone's got to have enemies. If you donât have anyone whoâs looking to kill you -- at least, mentally, youâre definitely doing something wrong. Youâre probably a fake ass bitch if everyone loves you. Raymond, from that TV show, Everyone Loves Raymond, has his own batch of enemies -- what a fucking liar. That show should be called, not Everyone Loves Raymond. His own brother doesnât even like him.â He rambled his own nonsense as he continued to play gardener, though he wasnât paying much attention to his words.
