How Marpu Foundation Scaled Impact in 23 States Without Foreign Funding: A Case Study
Marpu Foundation is one of India’s most well-known Non Profit Organizations to have made a social impact in 23 states without foreign funding. The impact has led to a change in the lives of billions of people and still counting. The prudent and ethical decision, thus leading to not accepting foreign funds has shown us yet another perspective- an unwavering motive which will continue to stand as strong as a wall in the betterment of the environment and a more intended approach, paving the way for sustainable development as well as catering to the needs of the underprivileged, sets an example of autonomy and self- reliance.
Here are some reasons why, Marpu has been able to stand tall and serve as a blueprint to future Non-Profit Organizations:
Independent Funding Strategy:
Marpu has functioned autonomously, ever since it has seen the light of day, but a major financial support comes from CSR partnerships where 2% of the salary of the corporate workers, cater to the needs of the underprivileged.
Youth-Led Volunteerism:
It is fascinating to know that Marpu is joined by an enormous number of youngsters from all over the world who hope and aim to help not only the deprived, but also to manage and meet environmental issues.
Network of Local Ownership and Institutions:
The fact that Marpu has progressed on its objectives has also been driven by the support of many institutions and organizations in India such as local businesses, educational institutions and corporate companies.
A HARD EARNED OUTCOME: SUCCESSFUL IMPACTS
Marpu has stood the test of time, being successful, by mitigating many societal and environmental issues and bringing a change to many people’s lives by their vigorous efforts. Here are a few testimonials:
l In Assam: Marpu volunteers have helped in moving the affected and imperiled crowd during the flood and provided emergency help within 48 hours of crisis.
l In Tamil Nadu: When the pandemic (COVID-19) hit the world with educational institutions closing down, our ambitious volunteers helped children who did not have access to education in the global crisis.
l In Andhra Pradesh: Volunteers have carried over 150 menstrual hygiene awareness programs to put an end to unreasonable stereotypes and myths and make women more self-aware.
MARPU FOUNDATION: A CELEBRATION OF HUMANITARIANISM AND PHILANTHROPY
The achievements nonetheless, are fruits of the industrious attempts of Marpu and it is rather philanthropic, to be able to spread the light to others who are miserable dwelling in the darkness of illiteracy, poverty, stereotypes and myths. The humanitarian approach is yet again intriguing, combined with the zest of the young volunteers who’re coming forward to save the environment and help the disadvantaged. For Marpu, it is indeed a jubilation of humanitarian principles to bring a change for a better world.
