Remember Pippbrook House, the old library before it was moved to St. Martin's Walk? The council believe that we’ve all been consulted and are happy to see it sold off to a housing developer. But out of the 36,000 homes who received a flyer from the council directing them to an online questionnaire only 3.65% went on to express their opinion. Since being closed to the public it has not been properly maintained and needs millions of pounds worth of repair before it can even be declared safe. You may not care particularly about this. You may feel if the council can get a good price for it, then let it go. However, we believe differently. We believe it’s something worth keeping, indeed cherishing. We have a vision to retain the building both for local use and as a centre of excellence for community projects including arts, music, drama, film, business, sports, health and wellbeing with a much wider reach towards London and throughout the south east, thus bringing in valuable footfall and the kudos that Dorking richly deserves. If you believe that Pippbrook house is a community asset that should be kept and maintained for community use rather than being sold off to private developers then please sign our petition and send a message to the Mole Valley district councillors that you care about this marvellous building, that you didn’t agree to this sell off and that it is an asset we want to keep for the community for years to come.
