“I wasn’t planning on going back out at the moment. Pretty strong blizzard happening out there.” Killian spoke just as the wind blew against the house.
“So can we play?” Henry asked, dark eyes wide and eager as he waited for Killian to answer.
“Your mother and I were actually planning to watch TV but I suppose we can change our plans for you.”

“Aye even the calves. Your Uncle Liam even made sure to give them extra hay.” He explained.
“Are you staying inside now or are you gonna go back out?” Henry asked carefully.
“I wasn’t planning on going back out at the moment. Pretty strong blizzard happening out there.” Killian spoke just as the wind blew against the house.

“Aye.” Killian whispered back when he heard Henry stir. “Before you worry, all the animals are safe and warm.” He came over and ruffled the boys hair a bit.
“Even the little cows?” Henry asked, rubbing his eyes gently with the back of his hands. He had gone to sleep worrying about his fluffy buddies and knowing he’d have to wait for the snow to simmer down before he could them was a lot for him to take on.
“Aye even the calves. Your Uncle Liam even made sure to give them extra hay.” He explained.

“Why don’t you get the TV on and I’ll bring the blankets?” The wind howled against the cabin. “And the electric blanket.” Killian added with a quick kiss. He tried to move around the bedroom as quiet as he could not wanting to wake up Henry. It was only seven in the morning and he’d hoped to get at least an hour of quiet time with Emma.
Henry was usually a heavy sleepy but being out of his element, he heard the gentle shifting and lifted his head. “Is it still snowing?” He asked quietly, eyes only open a bit, just enough to see exactly who he was talking to.
“Aye.” Killian whispered back when he heard Henry stir. “Before you worry, all the animals are safe and warm.” He came over and ruffled the boys hair a bit.

Killian swelled with pride hearing Emma called Henry his son. “We are already crowded as it is. There is no bloody way a calf is fitting in here.” Taking Emma’s mug from her hand and gently setting it on the counter next to his own, Killian wrapped his arms around his fiancée. It felt so good to finally be able to all Emma that.
“Why don’t we let Henry sleep in late? We can let him go outside once the storm dies down and he can play until his heart is content.” He suggest as he nodded towards the couch. “But for right now you and I can stay warm under the blankets and finally start that show you’ve been begging me to watch.”
Emma bite her tongue when he took her cup, only because he was replacing it with himself. She relented, wrapping her arms around his shoulders loosely. She could have argued that the calf was tiny and could probably fit in Henry’s bed, but the boy was currently in their own bed, so perhaps it was best he kept the cow at bay.
“We’ll have to make due on the couch. Henry took over your side of the bed and I’m pretty sure he’s going full starfish now that i got up.” Emma noted, knowing how happy Henry would be to have a nice long sleep.

“It will be over before you know it.” He spoke hopefully. In truth he hadn’t been sure how long it would last. Emma had told him about when she was pregnant with Henry but this time he wanted it to be different. He wanted to be there for her unlike Neal had been.
“Liam and I got all of the cattle into the front pastures. We shouldn’t need to go out as early for a few days, maybe even a week. Means you and I could share that big more often.” He offered before stepping around Emma to make himself more coffee.
“Your son was incredibly disappointed by not being able to bring that baby cow in,” Emma pointed out, going to lean against the counter, watching him carefully over her mug. She smiled at the idea of Killian being home more. She wasn’t too keen on doing the whole pregnancy thing on her own again, but she was happy to know Killian would be there by her side through it all.

“Why would I want to be up with the sun when I can sleep in that nice warm bed we barely share?” Emma asked, sipping away at her hot chocolate. “Truly, I wish I understood exactly what they expected. Like, either make mommy puke in the morning or the night. Not both.”

“Swan? Why are you awake?” Killian spoke as he hung up his coats and hat. “I thought you and Henry would still be asleep.” He boots coming off next.
“Morning sickness again?” He spoke as he rounded the corner to the sweet smell of hot chocolate.
“He’s still asleep, wrapped around your pillow I might add.” Emma said, leaning against the counter as she saw him come into view. “Your kid and I are on two very different time zones, I think. You must have passed your English side onto them.”
“Or more likely they are just a morning person.” Killian teased before placing a kiss to Emma’s cheek. “How Henry is a morning person I’ll never know. Because he clearly did not inherit it from you.” He laughed running a hand through Emma’s bed head.

“One day you will not be stronger than me, brother.” Killian teased. The wind grew stronger against outside and Killian instinctively shivered. “Once the snow settles I’ll send Henry for a sleepover. I don’t know what the two of you do but all he ever asks about is spending the night with Uncle Liam.” He replied.
Before the storm could block the road back up to his cabin, Killian drove back. He quietly made his way inside still hoping the silence in the house meant Emma and Henry were still asleep.
Henry was still asleep, though Emma was wide awake, having another bout of morning sickness forcing her from the bed. Rather than try to go back in, Emma accepted the lazy snow day and, after washing her mouth out, went into the kitchen. Frowning at the prospects of not having coffee for a good while, she decided to make up fresh hot cocoa, deciding that would have to be the next best thing.
“Killian?” She called, hearing the door open quietly.
“Swan? Why are you awake?” Killian spoke as he hung up his coats and hat. “I thought you and Henry would still be asleep.” He boots coming off next.

“I have half a mind to pour that coffee on you.” Killian said as he finished brushing down his horse and wiping his hands on his jeans before taking the mug. “You are lucky that I promised a certain little boy I would be back before he and his mother woke up. Otherwise, I might stay and wrestle you the rest of the coffee in the pot.”
“And you would be shoved back into the snow the moment you tried to lay a hand on me,” Liam laughed, sipping his coffee slowly. “Send Henry my love. Tell my wonderful nephew that the moment the snow fades, he’s coming back to work. Little calf whisperer you have on your hands there, Killian.”
“One day you will not be stronger than me, brother.” Killian teased. The wind grew stronger against outside and Killian instinctively shivered. “Once the snow settles I’ll send Henry for a sleepover. The snow was still coming down and the wind was brutal. His hands were freezing despite the gloves he wore and his back was aching and begging for a warm fire.
Finally when he did reunite the calf with its mother and get them moved, he rode towards the main barn where he knew his brother was probably already enjoying a hot coffee.
“Having fun out there little brother?” Liam asked, utterly amused by how frozen Killian looked after going the extra mile to reunite the calf with its mother. Liam would have done the same, but he knew his brother could handle it, as he has always been very good at his job even if Liam did enjoy busting his balls every once in a while.
Liam, who was in fact sipping on his coffee, wasn’t cruel enough to deny his brother one and extended his arm to give the second cup to Killian as he entered.

“Just putting it out there, women are very cuddly when the temperature drops. And they tend to get cold easily. Sometime even finding fun ways of staying warm.” Killian laughed as he raced ahead of his brother and out tho the pasture to herd the cattle.
Liam cursed under his breath watching him go off. Rolling eyes, he followed in suit, rangling up all the larger cows, leaving his brother with the cafs. It was easier than expected, with most of the cattle ready to get inside to avoid the cold.

You were my brother, father, teacher, and role-model for as long as I can remember.” He called over the wind and snow.
The storm was growing in strength and Killian was glad he had stocked up on woods at both his cabin and at Liam’s place. No doubt they would need a fireplace to stay warm tonight. “You know I hear that Elsa is very fond of snow and winter weather. I do not suppose she is staying at your house today?”
Liam chuckled, scratching behind his ear carefully. “No, no, the snow doesn’t seem to bother her much.” Liam revealed playfully. “And her location is not for discussion, brother. Perhaps we should cut the chatter and instead move on towards getting the work done.”

“When our dear mother decided to have you, she too had the tendency to get ill during the night.” Liam revealed. “I’m sure she’ll be fine as the pregnancy continues. Have either of you come up with any names?”
“Not yet. Emma is not long into the pregnancy. I think we want to make sure that nothing happens. For now the important thing is she a d the baby are healthy and stay that way.”

“Just wait until you have kids, brother. We will have to hire more hands because you will be too busy cooking breakfast for your family.” Killian chuckled.
“Speaking of family… how is your girlfriend?” He knew Liam tried to avoid talking about Elsa the same way he had tried avoiding a conversation about Emma in the beginning.
Liam scoffed, turning to face his brother once more. “Do not call her that. We aren’t children in school. Girlfriend sounds so immature.” Liam mentioned with a dramatic shutter. “Elsa is fine, however. Doing very well, thank you. And Emma? The baby is doing well?”
“Aye. Causing Emma fits of sickness. She snuck out of bed at least twice in the night. I thought morning sickness happened, in the morning.” He pointed out as he mounted his horse.

Once he was sure Henry was asleep, Killian dressed and prepared for the near blizzard outside. He rushed off to find Liam, hoping his older brother hadn’t of gone out in the beginning of the storm alone.
Relieved to find Liam still in the barn saddling his horse, Killian started to do the same. “Before you even say it, no I did not over sleep. I had to convince Henry to go back to sleep and not try to sneak out of the house.” He explained. 
“I’m honestly surprised the boy didn’t worry you out,” Liam mentioned, smiling as he got the horse settled. “At least you’re here now. Shouldn’t take very long to rangle up the crew, though we better get a move on.” He moved away from his horse, going to grab the abandoned saddle in the corner and toss it over to Sebastian so he could get his horse in order. “It should stop snowing early enough, but if we don’t get started we’ll be forced back in soon enough.”
“Just wait until you have kids, brother. We will have to hire more hands because you will be too busy cooking breakfast for your family.” Killian chuckled.
