I am of legacy. You know what’s worse than not knowing where you come from? Nothing. When you think of what makes up the parts of your personality and all it’s isms and quirks, where did it come from? Like...who am I actually? Who’s blood is running through my veins? 

When I turned 27 my mother became the first African American Women to become Mayor of my hometown of Salisbury, North Carolina, without even trying. I fought my mother tooth and nail the entirety of her campaign for city council, and when my phone rang on election night with a friend yelling for me to get my ass to the campaign party! I didn’t know that not only had my mother made it on the council, she’d superseded
