Velella velella, or by-the-sea sailor, a type of cnidaria. Found all of these a couple of weeks ago at Wilder Ranch State Park.

Definitely got up to see the moon last night, even though it was foggy and I couldn't see the craters, just the red tinge was visible, but it was still beautiful.
Yesterday I turned 26, and since I've done a post like this for a couple of years, I can't stop now!
26!
There are 26 bones in the normal human foot and ankle.
In a deck of cards, there are 26 red cards and 26 black cards.
There are 26 letters in the English alphabet.
The atomic number of iron.Â
The New General Catalogue object NGC 26, a spiral galaxy in the constellation Pegasus.
In base ten, 26 is the smallest number that is not a palindrome to have a square(26^2=676) which is a palindrome.
A rhombicuboctahedron has twenty-six sides.
26 is the only integer that is one greater than a square (25=5^2) and one less than a cube (27=3^3).
A Rubik's Cube can always be solved in 26 moves or less.
Scientist Heinz von Foerster predicted that on November 11, 2026, technological singularity will occur - the point where we will reach a level of technological progress previously unknown to man. This includes the ability for machines to make themselves smarter, and, you know, finish off the human race.
In 1726, Isaac Newton told William Stukeley how he developed the theory of gravity.
Asteroid number 26, Proserpina, was discovered in 1853. It is named after the Roman goddess, daughter of Ceres and the Queen of the Underworld. She is the Roman equivalent of the Greek goddess Persephone.

Neuronas
(photos by scientistintraining) Sorry for the blurry photos, but I just came across my high school psychology project and felt the need to share the ridiculousness.
I took these photos back in 2005 when my psychology teacher gave us the assignment of building a neuron out of whatever material we wanted. My friend and I are candy obsessed, so of course we made the neuron out of cookie dough, with M&M axon terminals, circus peanuts as the myelin sheath, a Neco with chocolate for a nucleus and Twizzlers as the axons and dendrites. We of course made this on Saturday and turned it in Monday, so to protect our neuron we sprayed it with hair spray (I have no idea why we thought that was a good idea-it smelled terrible).
Hello! I hope you don't find this offensive or annoying, but I'm currently writing a book and I'm a little out of my depth when it comes to some of the scientific stuff. It's mostly the stuff dealing with cloning. I've found some information online but it's not as thorough as I'd like. If you can help and would like to, I would appreciate it. I have some questions concerning dead and fossilized cells to be more specific. Thanks for your time. I hope you have a nice day.
Unfortunately, I am not the person to ask for this, I have very little molecular knowledge. Of course the one person I know personally that would be able to help with this information no longer updates their tumblr, so I can’t send you there. Perhaps one of my followers can help you though!

I'm amazed at the variety of glassware sizes in the laboratory.

This is my Southern blot tower. I take a gel that is thinner than your average gel (literally think of a square of clear jello about 8"x8" that is floppy and fragile). I take this gel that is full of important DNA fragments and I flip it upside down and line it up with a piece of paper and then load all of this stuff on top of it. Basically it was scary and nerve racking (this thing takes 3 days to set up so a mess up means starting over next week since it's a 5 day process) and I'm so happy it's over. My trainer gave me a round of applause since it was my first Southern blot by myself.
