i started reading homestuck in the big year of 2025 and now its taken over my life. also i love the epilogues so much. epilogue haters dni im serious

this blog is 18+ as i will be rbing/posting nsfw and also im 25 years old lol. i dont do proship/anti discourse because its stupid and reductive. basically i think that fiction provides a space for exploring and examining all kinds of subjects & realities & desires, but our desires themselves and the way we approach them is not beyond critique and that we do carry a responsibility to be aware and respectful when writing and discussing things that are sensitive. i do talk about incest, sexual violence, and abuse on this blog as they are all themes in homestuck, but i do not like to approach these topics through the lens of shipping. ik this all sounds extremely self-serious but its important to me to try to clearly articulate.

i'm trying to keep this blog pretty organized, i tag all characters by their first names & generally tag ships. my meta is tagged as #homestuck meta, art as #my art and fic as #my fic. i love you. bye

the thing is that davekat is so important... like augh. theres this moment in a5a2 where terezi's like haha dave youre so much like karkat except youre so much more normal (ie repressed) about your feelings unlike karkat whos so annoying about it. and well. this isnt daverezi or karezi ship hate or me necessarily saying one is the objectively better ship because we all enjoy different things in fictional relationships and thats ok. but like, dave and terezi i think are also too much alike where they end up enabling each other too much because they both bottle shit up and think they dont want help. and they do really love each other & are important to each other and the extent to which terezi feels she has to distance herself from dave post retcon is really tragic. but that being said that common thread pointed out by terezi is so important as to why davekat works, like, karkat is so unable to not be completely earnest in everything he does, and dave needs that, and like yeah dave thinks karkat is funny and enjoys pissing him off he also takes karkat seriously in a way nobody else really does, and karkat needs that too. vrisrezi goggles coming on for a second but i also think that karkat and vriska are similar in this way, in their inability to not be earnest in everything they do, vriska's obviously just more manipulative and prone to mindgames due to her own trauma (as is terezi) which isnt great for either of them but is still a really big part of why they love & need each other. and to be quite honest i dont think that dave and karkat have a perfect healthy relationship either, im always harping on this but they are super codependent and enable each others avoidance in different ways, i have a lot to say about that that ive talked about in other posts. but also when i think about how dave could have so easily gone down the path of the nastyboy, its like, getting close to karkat was such an important part of helping him embrace sincerity. & likewise getting close to dave helped karkat chill the fuck out and get over himself... i dont know where they would be without each other to be honest. i mean i guess they would be miserable like in candy
