Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale in Teen Wolf
It wasn’t short, it was perfect. This episode was perfect. It showed us everything that we needed to know but at the same time it was done in a way that doesn’t make you feel sorry for Lhong because whatever happened in his life doesn’t justify what he did. They wanted us to understand Lhong’s personality better from how alone he was since he was a kid to finally find someone who’s the light in his dark and lonely world, Tharn.
He’s completely alone. No one’s there for him, no one cares. No one cared about him even when he was just a child. He lived his life completely alone.
Then Tharn shows up, tells him that he’s not alone anymore and that he’ll always be there for him. This is the turning point in his life, he found someone that made the promise of never leaving him.
The episode is also full of flashbacks of Lhong’s happy memories:
memories that show us an happy person, but it’s just toxic happiness. It’s not the happiness that you feel because you’re good with yourself, it’s the happiness that it’s given to you by someone else. So, if this someone leaves you, everything in your world crumbles.
Lhong’s obsession can be explained in just one sentence: fear of being left alone. This fear is going to make him do anything he can, even the worst things, just to be sure that no one can steal the only person he’s ever had.
This episode explained his behaviour really well, now we can understand him but we can’t forgive him and this exactly what the director wanted. Also, a big round of applause to Kaownah’s acting skills ‘cause he nailed it. Everything was on point and portrayed perfectly. Never disappoints.
- Hogwarts Moodboard : BL Edition -
THARNTYPE LHONG → Slytherin : Cunning, Selfish, Manipulative
▴ Pure Blood. ▴ Sixth Year student. ▴ Highly skilled at potions. Possibly to the point of obsession. ▴ Enchantments and elixirs are his speciality. ▴ Small truths and delicate lies, his serpent tongue holds more power and is far more lethal that his wand will ever be. ▴ Best friends with Tharn (Ravenclaw). ▴ Does not understand why the Sorting Hat didn’t acknowledge his intellect and place him in the same House as his best friend. ▴ Finds Muggle Borns and Half Bloods abhorrent. Particularly those that think they’re good enough to hang around Tharn. But it’s not as if it takes much to make them go away. Just a quick whisper in their ear or a drop of the right elixir in their tea. ▴ The day he found his best friend and the filthy Chaser from his own House in the boys toilets, he left a trail of petrified first years and flaming tapestries in his wake. Even Nearly Headless Nick had been shaken by the look in his eyes. ▴ Was one of the lucky few Slytherins to not contract Dragon Pox when an outbreak began amongst their Quidditch team. While his House Mates were busy feeling sorry for themselves on their sickbeds, he was left friendless while Tharn tended to his darling Mud Blood in the hospital wing. ▴ Hogwarts was hit with another bout of bad luck barely three months later when the Cursed Ice that almost consumed the school forty years ago broke free of its vault. Most students believed the culprit was from Slytherin House, but no one could entirely prove the theory seeing as their Common Room was the most severely hit by the curse. ▴ Luckily the unfortunate mishaps seem to have subsided for the time being. Though since then, he’s felt a pair of narrow eyes watching him from the shadows. ▴ He’ll make that despicable Mud Blood disappear, one way or another. And then Tharn will finally see how perfect they are for each other.
