It's taken many years, but I've finally reached the nerd level of getting the Takara version of a figure for the better deco. Jetfire was a childhood favorite, so it's great to have him back in the collection.

I approve of the placement of Snarl's 5mm ports.
The instructions don't cover putting the Enigma in Grimlock's butt, but it fits perfectly.
Well this was an appropriately festive pull for this weekend!
The elf is pushing his luck cracking my packs...
Messing around with Titan Masters... did I just make a Digimon?
Upon seeing this image, I went from forgetting that this existed to being 99% sure that I had one.
I really enjoy Titans Return Galvatron, but didn’t like that Nucleon / Megatron was just a blank slab of grey. So I fixed it! While I was at it, I gave Crashbash some blue to make him more like G1 Squeezeplay.
A word of warning!
The above paint job was done with Testors model paints, then sealed with their spray lacquer. I was hoping that would be enough so that they would hold up to being played with. Alas, the paint job started to peel, so it applied Testors paint thinner to undo the customization. That's when the plastic in Nucleon's legs started disintegrating!
So don't do that!
This isn't a knock on Testors, so much as my own poor decision making. But for what it's worth, it all started with frustration on the sheer lack of deco from Hasbro. (By the way, don't try tightening the screws in Sky Lynx's rear ankles, they strip immediately. )
My birthday turned out pretty well this year. And yes, that is the SDCC version of Fortress Maximus. :)

With 120 mini cards, Magic: The Gathering - Travel Edition has all the fun of your standard Magic deck, now in super-concentrated form. The carrying case itself turns into a Battle Board with integrated playmat and life counters for a head-to-head duel.
Considering it has the word “Gathering” in its title, you’d think Magic would be more of a travel game. Not that it’s difficult to carry around, but it is challenging to play in an impromptu location. You’ve got your deck with you. Your friends have their decks with them. Now all you need is 2 feet of lateral space on a flat surface each, and you’ll be good to go. It doesn’t sound like much, but it is. Those of you who end up at tournaments playing with mats overlapping your neighbors’ know what we’re talking about. And your tray table on the airplane just isn’t going to cut it. So if you can’t get more space, what’s your other option?
Smaller cards. That’s why ThinkGeek and Wizards of the Coast have come together to released a new Magic: The Gathering - Travel Edition just in time for the summer travel season. With 120 mini cards, MtG-TE has all the fun of your standard Magic deck, now in super-concentrated form. The carrying case itself turns into a Battle Board with an integrated playmat and life counters for a head-to-head duel. And don’t fret that you might not be able to read the abilities / flavor text on your mini cards. MtG-TE comes with 2 pairs of Battle Magnifier goggles, also handy for reading the small print on those commercials for prescription drugs where the side effects are nausea, vomiting, and spontaneous combustion. If you enjoy MtG-TE, we encourage you to pick up a expansion pack and build your own travel deck that’s a force to be reckoned with.
