Let’s get to know our West Coast Eagles

SEDA College WA's partnership with West Coast Eagles now provides students with great opportunities and sports training to learn from the industry experts in real life industry settings and also a good start for your university pathway. But before this, let's get to know our beloved West Coast Eagles.

The West Coast Eagles, also known simply as West Coast or The Eagles, is a professional Australian rules football club playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Based in Perth, Western Australia, it represents its home state and the Perth metropolitan region. They train at Lathlain Park and plays its home games at Perth Stadium, also known as Optus Stadium, in Burswood, having previously played at Subiaco Oval and the WACA Ground. The club is one of two AFL clubs based in Western Australia, the other being its main rival, the Fremantle Football Club.  

It reached the finals series for the first time in 1988, and won its first premiership in 1992, having been defeated in the grand final the previous year. The Eagles have since won three more premierships, in 1994, 2006 and 2018. The club is currently coached by Adam Simpson and captained by Shannon Hurn. From 2013 to 2018, the East Perth Football Club, which competes in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), served as West Coast's reserves team. The West Coast Eagles were selected in 1986 as one of two expansion teams to enter the Victorian Football League (VFL) the following season, along with the Brisbane Bears.  

West Coast were the dominant team during Fremantle's early years winning the first nine derbies. Fremantle won their first Western Derby in July 1999 and since the turn of the century, it has been an even nineteen wins to both clubs. West Coast are the current holders of the Western Derby Trophy after defeating Fremantle by 58 points in round 20 of the 2018 AFL season. Perth Glory and Football's Contribution to our Society

Nowadays, aside from competing, Perth Glory is now bringing football all throughout the country not just through sports training but even bringing awareness on how big sports contribution, football in particular to our society. SEDA College WA is also providing Perth Glory training for their students.

As most of us recognize, education is the key for the world’s long-term progress.  However, learning should not be left only to the classroom. Currently, children and adolescents in developing countries have too much leisure time, and some don’t even attend school.
