Hi! I know this is an out of the blue question, but how did you like Sookmyung?

OMG THIS IS A VERY LATE RESPONSE and I am sure the person who asked this already forgot about it, but SMWU (? do they even abbreviate themselves that way?) were ok... the professors in the Korean as a second language department made it for me, and they were definitely good. The textbooks they wrote were good too, but very sparse on English explanations, so be prepared to jump off the deep end. Overall, good, but I did get a very limited taste of what the school is, you’re probably better off finding a current student and asking her.

Nightly Music Ramblings: “The Promise” (Final Fantasy XIII - Main Theme) by Masashi Hamauzu

So, I have another confession to make: I have always dreamed of getting married and having kids before reaching my late 20's. That's probably because my parents married young and also had me at a young age. I feel that young parents are more able to relate to their kids; my reasoning is that I'd want to be the parent who can still chase around their tiny toddler.

Anyways, I've also had fantasies about my wedding too. Funnily enough, when I met first one of my best friends--seriously, this girl is my soulmate--I told her that she'd be one of the people I'd invite to my wedding. And it wouldn't be by some fancy card printed by machine. "No! I'd handwrite all my invitations," I boldly exclaimed.

Now I have another fantasy to add to that list. This song is definitely going to be played during my ceremony; a love that was worth fighting fate for is a love worth promising to for the rest of eternity.

I don't know about any of you Northern Hemisphere dwellers, but I am sick of winter. Admittedly, Boston did not even have a rough winter, but just the thought of the cold makes me want to run back to a safety (and warmth) of my bed and blankets. This longing for warmer days has been exacerbated this year because of the crazy effects of climate change (like a 65F/18C Christmas); it is as though Mother Nature is taunting us from her grave (yes, because honestly, how can this weather be considered natural?!... Ok, I'll get off my soapbox for now).

The book I read today for literature class did not help this situation. If there is one thing studying literature has taught me, it is that bees and pollination and spring somehow always point back to sex and fertility... So honestly, I can never look at spring the same ever again—thanks a lot, Ms Barile—but, for all my lonely friends out there, maybe spring will be a time for us to be lonely no more. I cannot wait for the extra energy that I can put towards hanging out with family and friends.

OK, let's shake things up a bit with these posts. I've decided to let these be music recommendations from me, but the catch is that the song of the blog post is the epigraph of the post--it is a quotation meant to give the theme of the post.

For tonight, like yesterday, I seem to be mulling over an unrequited love again; like Bobby raps/sings "말하지 않아도 느낌이 와 (even without saying a word, I have a feeling)," only staring at this person will make me feel infatuated.

It's kind of funny that I sound like I am letting my hormones do all the talking (which they are), and appearances are the driving force of this crush (oh yes, I know and recognise it is just a crush). And I know that is so shallow for me to say—perhaps it's because I've never been in a real relationship (Team 모쏠 assemble!). Hopefully one day I can declare "드디어 사랑이 찾아왔어(finally love found me)".

... That day is probably far away though.

Nightly Music Ramblings: “사랑은 그렇게” (Oh My Venus OST Pt. 6) by 러블리즈 케이 (Lovelyz Kei)

So, does anyone else out there have those nights where you keep singing to sad songs because you can't quite get that unrequited love feeling out of your heart?

I feel like I have one every time I wrote up one of these posts. It's so funny how things translate though; 짝사랑 is a crush—unrequited love—and it is only one syllable off from love. My, how one tiny syllable—in this case, literally 3 phonemes—can change the meaning of a word.

Anyways, enjoy the song. Kei's voice is lovely (lol, he bad pun shows you how much I need my sleep right now). And have a good night—one where we can dream of a happy ending... One which will have me using dashes less in my writing.

This is #NSLIY reunion 4/some big number, and it means a lot to me because Liza lives all the way out in Colorado. While I am glad that I have friends all over the place, it is certainly not the easiest to gather all of us in one place; but, I know that we are all willing to drop whatever we are doing to catch up if anyone is visiting. Touring colleges with these girls was so entertaining—they have definitely given me new perspectives on college life and perhaps just life in general. Wow, a whole year has passed guys~ Prom, NSLI-Y, and a day trip to NYC were definitely some of my favourite memories. But in saying that, I realise that there are also great moments to be found in between all that—the moments not shared on social media. While I hope that I can share more of my journey as a language and travel loving guy in the next year, I recognise that I should slow down and just enjoy every moment of this life that I am blessed with. Thanks again for making this a smashing year for me, and the best for next year~ 와우~ 벌써 한 해가 지났다~ 소중한 추억 중에서 프롬, 니슬리와, 한 날에 뉴욕시티로 여행이 당연히 포괄한다. 그렇다고 하는데, 그 속에서 추억할 만한 순간도—SNS에서 공유하지 않은 순간들—있는 걸 깨달았다. 언어와 여행을 아주 좋아하는 아이로서 내 진행을 더 공유하기 바라는데 천천히 가야 하는 것과 이 복이 많이 있는 삶에 각 순간을 즐겨야 하는 것을 깨닫는다. 올 해가 엄청 대단해져줘서 고맙고 새해 복을 많이 받아라~ (번역이 나쁘게 나왔으면 미안해요 여러분~ ㅋㅋㅋ 더 열심히 공부해야 하나 봐요...)
