Aubree: Even Molly betrayed me on that front.
Seth: this may be a loosing battle

Aubree: I hope one of them has red hair.
Seth: You might be out of luck on that one, babe.

Aubree: and I want to be able to look at our babies and see you in them.
Seth: So we are hoping for an even mix ;)

Aubree: I hope they both take after you.
Seth: Oh, no. I love how much Molly looks like you so I hope they look like you, too.

Aubree: One of the twins wants it. The other twin is happy about these saltines.
Seth: The twin that wants it takes after you.

Aubree: on your way home will you grab something caramel?
Seth: We don't have any?
Seth: I'll get you whatever you want, baby.
aubreewatters:
Married life was everything Aubree had ever thought it would be. Her family was a matched set of loving adults and doting parents to a daughter that wasnât biologically both of theirs. They had pets and good jobs and huge opportunities coming up and she hadnât ever been happier than she had been since the day she and Seth had said I do. The birth control talk had happened early on in their engagement and sheâd stopped hers in enough time to be able to conceive once they were married, if sheâd timed it correctly.Â
She had.Â
Overjoyed at seeing the two lines on the three different tests sheâd done, Aubree had cried in the bathroom at work and put all three tests into a ziploc baggie in her purse. This time was going to be different than her first pregnancy. She was going to have someone at her side the whole way, someone who would love their baby just the way she did. She cried again on her way home, wiping away her tears and giving Molly an extra long hug when she picked her up from school. The two of them picked up a smorgasbord for dinner and they ate as a family, the secret Aubree was keeping bubbling away inside her viciously. Once Molly was put to bed, Aubree pulled her husband into their room and kissed him square on the lips. âGo get in my purse. Look. See whatâs in there,â she ordered, trying to keep him from guessing her secret.
Seth loved being married. It hadnât been that long, sure, but he did not care. He had his girl and his baby girl and thatâs all he needed. Adding on to the family one day would be great, too. He was honestly living the life. Nothing was going wrong at all. He was auditioning for Chopped in July and would find out if he made it and, if he did, he would be filming sometime in December or January. He was excited because he knew that his girls would be there cheering him on and if he lost, they would be there to tell him they loved him.Â
Yeah, his life was fantastic.
Once Aubree got home with entirely too much food, he gave her a kiss and pulled Molly into a hug. Seth was relieved that she had brought food home because between cooking dinner almost every night and making practice dishes, he was sometimes worn out from cooking. Aubree looked like she had something important to tell him but he couldnât figure it out. It was like she was hiding something from him. He didnât question it, though, because Molly was around and little ears hear everything. As soon as she was put to bed and sleeping, Seth was going to ask Aubree what was up but he didnât have a chance. âUm...okay...â he said, a quizzical look on his face. Seth grabbed her purse and looked through it until he found a bag that seemed out of place. He pulled it out and it took a moment to register what was inside. His eyes found hers and then a grin broke out on his face. âReally?â he asked as he moved towards her. Seth picked her up and spun her around. âOh my gosh,â he said against her lips as he put both hands on her face and pressed kisses.

Aubree: A baby Watters.
Seth: I am really excited, babe.

Aubree: Right after the wedding.
Seth: Then we're going to, hopefully, get you pregnant in three months.

Aubree: I need to stop it right about now then.
Seth: I'll have a baby whenever you're ready.

Aubree: How soon do you want to have a baby? Because I need to stop my birth control a few months before.
Seth: Right after the wedding?
a little surprise
aubreerosebuchanon:
âIf we want one as soon as weâre married I need to go off of my medication now,â she said, being careful to word it so that it didnât sound scary or confusing to Molly. âStill, practicing definitely wonât hurt anyone.â She took their new puppy back and kissed his head. Having a big dog like Theodore meant that they were going to have to put a hustle on the househunting that theyâd been doing as a preparative action. It was going to have to move to the forefront for their pets and for their kids, if they were planning on having one or two more. Their apartment wasnât small but it definitely wasnât big enough for two good sized dogs, a fat old cat, two or three kids, and the two of them. âMolly and I will pick them together,â she agreed.Â
Sometimes itw as still surreal to him that Aubree had agreed to anything with him. He still remembered giving her his phone number on the receipt from the vet. Then they ran into each other grocery shopping. It just snowballed since then and in a few months they would be legally married. It really was amazing how things worked out. âProbably a good idea,â he said, his nose scrunching up. The man couldnât believe how lucky he was to be with Aubree and to have Molly as his daughter. He loved how no one ever gave them a second look when they were at the store together. His friends from work knew the situation and wholeheartedly supported Seth when it came to Molly and Aubree. His old boss, Dr. Burke, loved that he had decided to settle down. âI think thatâs a perfect plan. Molly always throws in the hard ones and thatâs what I need.â
a little surprise
aubreerosebuchanon:
âWeâll have those too,â Aubree confirmed. âOne or two more, whenever youâre ready. After the wedding, of course. I donât want to do the whole âunmarried and pregnantâ thing again, even though I am a lot older this time around.â She was glad that Seth wasnât angry with her and that he did think that their new family member was cute because honestly, he was the cutest thing sheâd seen since Molly. âTheodore will be a good boy. Heâll snuggle and wonât have accidents and heâll listen to Phil, just like the rest of us do.â
âIâm ready as soon as weâre married,â he told her, a smile on his face. âIâm ready now but I know you want to be married so...in...three and a half months we can start trying,â he told her, waggling his eyebrows up and down at her. âBut practicing canât hurt.â Seth might have been a bit upset when he came home to another animal in the apartment but he never could stay that way. Not with Molly or Aubree. Seth handed the puppy back to his girlfriend and walked into the kitchen to wash his hands. âIâm going to start on dinner. Then I want you to pick four ingredients - any ingredients - and Iâll come up with things I can do with them. Ya know, talk it out. I go next month for an interview and to bring the executives some of my food so they know I can cook. They are looking for people with good stories and I think mine is pretty convincing.â

âJust offering in case it made you feel better.â She smiled again as he leaned in to kiss her, meeting his lips without hesitation. âHe has a bowl, a collar, a leash. Oh, and puppy pads, just in case.â Aubree nodded. âI made sure that he wasnât going to go without anything just because he was a spontaneous decision that I wonât make again without conferring with my sweet, loving, perfect soon to be husband.â Keeping her hold on the puppy, she stood up and held him close to Seth, her free hand scratching Opheliaâs head lightly. âSay hi to our little teddy bear.â
âAh, the flattery method,â he said, laughing a little. Seth took the puppy out of Marinaâs hands and sighed. âHey there, Teddy. My daughter and my wife have decided that youâre coming to live with us. And since I have no say on most things,â he said, a wink in Aubreeâs direction, âI guess you are. You are cute. No chewing on anything in my kitchen. Phil is the boss.â He rubbed the pupâs fur and laughed lightly as the puppy licked his lips. âWell, I was planning on more children one day but I figured it would be the human kind.â
a little surprise
aubreerosebuchanon:
âOphelia and Theodore were playing right before I picked him up to hold him and Phil wouldnât care if I brought a tiger into the house. He let Theodore sniff him, approached him very cautiously, and then went to sleep in his cat tree.â Aubree felt like a child trying to plead a case to her parent about keeping a pet that had followed her home. âIâll sleep on the couch if I have to to make you feel better about it.â Molly, sweet as she was with the tiny bit of lisp that she had, held tight to Seth as she spoke. âMomma said we can call him Teddy as a nickname.â Aubree smiled and nodded. âItâs a perfect name for a big fluffy boy like him. Do you want to come say hi?â
âMaking you sleep on the couch would be a punishment for me. Iâm pretty sure I have done nothing to warrant not sleeping next to you,â he told her, his eyebrow raised. Ophelia took that moment to come into the room and Seth leaned down to pet his puppy. She was almost a year and in a very awkward phase. Thankfully, she would grow out of it soon. Seth moved across the room to lean down and place a kiss on Aubreeâs lips. âTeddy, huh?â he asked and then shook his head again. âYouâll be the death of me, soon-to-be Aubree Watters.â Seth always had a really hard time telling her no and in most cases he didnât even try. But, he still wanted to feel like his opinion meant something in their lives. âDid you get him a dog bed? Bowl? Collar? Leash?â
a little surprise
aubreerosebuchanon:
Aubree winced when she heard the disapproval in Sethâs voice. âHis name is Theodore,â she told him. âHe gets along well with our other animals, and he was the runt of the litter so he wasnât very expensive.â Molly left the couch, going to hug Seth the way she did every day when he got home, and clung to his leg as he stood there. âI love him like mommy does,â she told him, very matter-of-factly, with a nod. Her brows furrowed a bit, Aubree frowned. âIâm sorry. I just saw him in the post and he was the only one left because no one has bought him in the three weeks that the ad has been posted and the breeders were almost desperate to get rid of him and he has the sweetest faceâŠâ
Seth shook his head for a minute before leaning down to pick Molly up. She was getting so big and he knew that before long he wouldnât be able to pick her up. So, instead, he tried to do it as much as possible until that day came. âI mean...you did tell me that you wanted a dog or two when we were first dating so I guess here is our second dog. Phil and Ophelia are cool with him?â He knew she said they were but he wanted to make sure. Ophelia was a Golden Retriever and they were notorious for getting along with everyone and everything but Phil could be picky. âWe can keep him but, baby, communication would be nice.â Seth put Molly down before kicking his shoes off by the door.
