Taking it easy on the recruits wasn’t an option when it came to training the next round of Death Dealers. Aleksander didn’t stand for anything less than perfection when it came to the vampires who were tasked with protecting the coven. Damien had been in charge for years now and with every new batch of recruits he found himself pushing them harder and harder.
He didn’t normally take special interests in his recruits, but Liudolf wasn’t just some recruit. He’d been there the night that they had taken him and his brother in. And the two of them, Liudolf and Lutwick, had more potential than any of the other vampires that they were currently training with. Lutwick didn’t need so much attention, he was already familiar with the physical aspects of what they were required to endure. Damien’s attention had been more focused on the older of the two brothers.
To anyone looking in from the outside, Liudolf was an angel. A golden haired angel, too fragile to do any kind of real damage in a fight. Perhaps the kind of man that would serve as more of a distraction than a threat. Liudolf was beautiful; there was no denying that Damien was one of the vampires who thought so, but he could also see Liudolf’s potential. He might’ve been a pampered prince in his previous life, but Damien knew that there was more to Liudolf than that. He could see the fighter that was waiting just below the surface and no matter what it took he wanted to bring that side of Liudolf out.
Their sessions took place after the general training that he and his second in command would oversee. He had asked Liudolf to stay behind one morning and soon enough that became a regular thing. Working one on one meant that he could help the younger vampire with more specific issues.
Tonight though Damien was seeing a side of Liudolf that he hadn’t seen in quite some time. His golden haired angel was sitting in front of one of the training room mirrors and struggling to tame the locks of hair he was so proud of. Perhaps he had been a little too hard on him that evening.
“No, don’t do it like that,” Damien heard the way that his voice broke the silence that had fallen over the room sharply as he walked over to where Liudolf was sitting. “You’re just going to make it worse, here hand it over.” He didn’t wait for the younger vampire to hand over the requested hairbrush, instead he pulled it easily from the other’s hands and moved so that he was standing behind the former prince. “Just sit still, I’ll do it.” He added as his fingers gently ran through the golden locks, separating it into more manageable sections. “I do this for Ava all the time.”
