The Alkahest was a complete game-changer for me in fanfic. I know I’ve said it before, but it is the most relatable fanfic I’ve read to date. The character study angle that you take makes it so accessible and I swear some of the situations have absolutely happened to me with friends or boyfriend. And I love that you don’t shy away from serious topics either. What I’m trying to say is, thank you for writing such an amazing story. Happy Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day! ❤️
Sorry for not replying to this message for so long, I’ve been super MIA as you might have noticed (sorry sorry sorry). I figured I would use this message to announce that my MIA status is just about done, because it was such a lovely message to get <3
Everyone who’s ever read my fics, left comments, or otherwise supported my writing: Thank you.
Those of you in the FB groups and such that have adamantly maintained that I definitely didn’t abandon my fic when people asked: Thank you!! You were right. I know it’s easy to get jaded about those things in the fanfic world, and believe me, I’ve been the sad naysayer going “Man they’re never coming back.”
To those who supported the GoFundMe that Claire started when I had my accident: Very much thank you. I’m sorry that other circumstances continued to keep me from writing for so long, but that helped me so much in a time of panic and need, and I’m so grateful to everyone for both contributing to the GFM and for reaching out to me to send emotional support during a rough period. It was a dark time but I really feel like you all helped me through.
So many of you know that I had the accident, which accrued medical bills that left me floundered. Then on top of that, my laptop (and only computer) totally died.
I finally have a laptop again. It is ugly and old and refurbished as shit, but it is mine, and I’m really excited to start writing again.
But also and most importantly: To those of you who sent inbox messages to my tumblr when I never responded, basically shouting your appreciation of my fic into the void: Thank you, thank you, thank you. I did get all the alerts, and every one warmed my heart. I wanted to reply, but life just felt really… dark and shitty. The messages and pings I got were kind of the only bright spots for a while, so even though I’m a rat bastard who never replied: I fucking love you. You didn’t know it at the time but you helped me out immensely during one of the roughest periods of my life so far.
I’m back and I’m excited to be. Thank you everyone who believed and sent love and good vibes and prayers and all that. Everything I write from now on is dedicated to you.
