“Might not be the law, but it certainly doesn’t look good.” He told her a sigh as he spoke. “Clearly this isn’t the place for you, so why don’t you just leave? I’m sure you have some one else you can bother.”

“Well who said I was trying to look good?” Shalia scoffed to the  man’s comment about her rude manners. “And unfornuately, I don’t exactly have another face to make red with fury. At least not until 4 o’clock. So, you got two hours with me!” She snickered as she picked up a small piece of finger food. “After all, a place with free food? Can’t blame me for not wanting to leave.”

“You do realize this is a high class space, right?” He questioned, harsh judgement in his tone. “If you’re going to act like that, you will have to leave.” Eyes looked over the person, frustration increasing with how they were acting in such a place.

“Aw, but I’m having so much fun. Come on, what’s the real harm in pestering the members of the ‘high class’ society? Surely not the law... yet.” Shalia insisted, not liking how the guy commented on her rude behavior.

“Would you mind helping me?” she looked wide eyed up at the other a small smile appearing on her lips. “I can’t seem to calm all these dogs down.” a laugh escaped her lips as she almost tripped on a leash. “Somethings setting them all off today, i can’t figure it out.”

“Don’t worry, it’s just me.” Shalia assured as the more she came closer, the dogs got more riled up. “Something about me usually gets dogs thinking they are needing to get prove their moxie. But they forget... I’m the Alpha!” She snapped at the dogs however than changed to a laugh as she looked at the other. “Just kidding. Seriously, I can help.”

“Oh hey,” Charles replied, giving the girl a little wave. “I’m looking for a friend of mine actually. Tall, sandy blonde hair– looks kinda grumpy?” he asked, using gestured in a charade-like manner to get his message across. “No? Okay. Sorry about your customer though, I swear I didn’t mean to scare them off.”

Shalia shook her head, not really to answer the boy’s question but just in shock of how innocent this kid was to her. How he didn’t even seem to notice the kind of person she really was. “It’s... It’s nothing.” She assured however then a thought ran through her head. A clever one as she sighed and then softly smiled. “But if you want to help make up for it, you could help me find another customer. Sound fair? It shouldn’t take long and then I’ll help you find your grumpy friend if you want.”

“So you run around doing errands for people, like a personal assistant?” Judy questioned, not quite buying into the others innocence. She let out a hum, “Anything they want? Does that include things that are hard to find, things that people shouldn’t have?”

“I’m nobody’s assistant, lady.” Shalia scoffed and let out a chuckle. “Yeah, though, absolutely. When they want that limit edition golden toothbrush, I search through the corners of the world and I find that toothbrush. Come on, chic, you are going to have to be a bit more sneaky if you want me to confess to things I’m obviously not doing.”

“Such beautiful purple hair.” Shalia smiled at the young girl as she lied clear to her face. Honestly, Shalia never understood why some people could just wear that awful color like they were Barney the dinosaur. Still she kept a sly smile as she spoke. “You know, not many can pull it off... But you sure do. Exactly how did that happen? I mean, did you do it yourself or did you hire a professional?”

Business was actually pretty good, despite the sudden burst of people in the middle of downtown Talle. Shalia had learned from a very young age how to support such a serious business as smuggling even in the most crowded festivities. In fact, she was just in the middle of scooping out a potential target - a sad sap who couldn’t afford to get his kids any of the cute knick knacks at the stands, when suddenly a voice caught her off guard, making her drop her gaze completely. She was surprised that someone had managed to get her to lose her focus much so when she recognized the person. It had been that same guy who had saved her behind a couple weeks ago. She looked back in the crowds and sighed when she couldn’t see the customer anymore. She turned attention to the young man she had yet got a name from. “Kid, what are you doing over here?!” She asked, crossing her arms. “You made miss my shot. Don’t you have any friends or family to keep ya from side alleys such as this?”

Judy continued to observe the other, arms folded over her chest as her eyes narrowed slightly in scrutiny, “And as I have mentioned, I wasn’t born yesterday.” She knew when someone was normally up to no good, the days of her being too naive were over and she was pretty sure she had Nick to thank for that, if it wasn’t for him he’d still be letting people walk all over and her believing everything they said. “And just what are these people after may I ask- you know, if it’s totally normal business.”

This lady was not lighting up. Lucky for her, Shalia was always ready for a challenge. She squinted her eyes. “Well, if you must know, a little bit of everything. Tickets, food, slushies, whatever they need here. I’m kind of like a major helper around the barbeque.” She explained as nonchalant as she could be. “Whatever someone wants, I get it. As long as they got the money, of course.” She looked at the officer with a small smile. “And any kind of person is a customer... Even an officer such as yourself, I got you covered.”

“Listen, lady, as I said for the millionth time, I’m not doing anything wrong here! I’m just standing in this shady corner - cause it’s hot - enjoying the festivities from a distance. How can I help it if someone comes over wanting something from me? Am I to refuse them?” Shalia rolled her eyes, trying to let the cop lady understand that nothing was going on over here when clearly there was. However Shalia would be damned if she was going to just not take advantage of such a clean opportunity of making new customers.

Beatrice feared very little in her life, and one of those things definitely wasn’t some little girl. When the young woman spoke her, that was when Beatrice truly felt her annoyance level rise. “It is not the same as mine. My business belongs here and yours does not.” She told her, keeping her tone knowing and strict. “Now, take your business else where. I don’t care where, just not in front of my shop.”

Okay, now this lady was starting to piss off Shalia. She was surprised that she hadn’t backed off as a majority of the townspeople did their best to avoid her and her crew however not this lady. She had balls, Shalia would give her that. Still, Shalia was now ready to play right back. After all, territory was one of the many things Shalia always demanded to have. Especially other people’s. “But I like it here. The sun hits right at this spot just right, giving me quite the large shadow. It makes me look more intimidating. Don’t you agree?”

“Do we have a problem here?” Nick stuck his head out from the police car, eyeing the situation at hand suspiciously. “You shouldn’t be out here,” he called out, ready to hop out of the vehicle if things got ugly.

“Who is interrupting me?!” Shalia shouted out, pissed only to turn around and see the cop staring at her. Shit was her first thought. She looked back at the fellow she had been threatening and motioned for him to beat it. He got the hint and ran off however Shalia knew she and her boys just find him again later. She had to pay attention now to the cop. She had seen this one at the station before however it wasn’t until had she ever encountered him like this. “Oh, hello, officer!” She smiled with a big grin, pretending to be sweet like candy. “No, there’s problem here. Just a couple people enjoying this beautiful day, ain’t no crime, right?”

“I’m too stubborn to die that easy,” he joked, trying to make light of the situation. “Well whether I know you or not, you don’t deserve to get attacked by those idiots. Are you okay?”

“That doesn’t surprise me.” Shalia softly chuckled to his humor. She let out a small sigh as she couldn’t believe he had asked if she was the one doing alright when he was the one holding the ice pack. Shalia didn’t know many people who were kind, or if they were, she just didn’t give them that much of a chance to be. However something was different with this guy. If it hadn’t been for him, she would have gotten worse than a smack that’s for sure. “I’m fine...” She shrugged off his gentleness.  “Getting a smack and now is just part of the job. I’m used to it. You on the other hand...” She cleared her throat, crossing her arms. “You shouldn’t try to piss off guys like that.”

“No need to apologize,” she assured the other. “I absolutely love dogs so it’s okay.” When the other girl summoned the dog and it came without hesitation, Gwyn smiled, “How obedient. Did you say his name was Punk? What’s the story behind that if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Thanks, he’s an awesome student when I can get him to stop thinking about food.” Shalia chuckled as she patted Punk the dog on the head. “And yeah, we all call him Punk. He started out as a stray pup when we found him who was stealing scraps from people’s trash so me and my crew started calling him that and well... It stuck around this long.”

Beatrice saw the transaction happening near her shop and paused before deciding to approach it. “I don’t know what’s happening out here, but I suggest you move it down away from my shop.” She spoke, her voice stern and unnerving.

Shalia had just about taught this punk a lesson until she had heard the unfamiliar voice from behind her. She froze in her violent steps as she turned and looked, seeing the older lady coming out of the store they were in front of. “Excuse me? Does this lady know who she is talking to?” Shalia scoffed as she looked back at the poor guy who had wronged her business. As she looked away, the guy ran off as her attention was now focused on the new person who wanted to play hero. She let out a chuckle seeing it was what appeared to be just a housewife.  “Relax, granny. Can’t you see I’m in just doing business here? Same as you.”
