Thanks to everyone who came to check out Embodying Power last weekend. It was exciting to have my work shown alongside that of the other 17 contemporary artists at the show, and especially exciting to have it share a space with Firi Rahman's 'Thatti' series and Venuri Perera's performance 'See You See Me'. Much love to Tamara Fernando and Sandev Handy for curating such an interesting and engaging show; I'm very glad I was part of it!
Em[body]ing Power, an independent art show, opens on Friday 2nd Feb at the Sapumal Foundation, at 6:30 pm. It continues till Sunday 4th Feb. Featuring the work of 18 Sri Lankan contemporary artists working in different media, the exhibition looks at how they explore the body in relation to institutions of power. It is curated by Tamara Fernando and Sandev Handy, and is free and open to the public. My piece for this show brings together a lot of thoughts, questions and discussions I've had about how women relate to the internal and external gaze. Some of these musings may turn up on my IG stories/highlights this week. Check out their FB page at fb.com/embodyingpower to join the event, and do check it out irl. Drop in at the opening on Friday to catch the performance art too!
Heading to the Litfest today. If you run into me, feel free to claim a yoga animals sticker :)
These 12 animals are out in Galle from today until Sunday, as part of the Galle Art Trail. Originals and framed print available at the Heritage Cafe; postcards and prints available at the Admiral's House, both at the Galle Fort.
