[Syverson x Reader]
Word Count: 5310 (Someone got carried away. Me. It was me.)
Summary: Sy answers your grandmother's summons for dinner.
Warnings: None
A/N: I'm back from the dead hellooooo! Grad school has truly been kicking my ass. I hope this is a fun surprise for everyone
Chapter 1 Chapter 2
Sy was standing three inches from an industrial box fan, sweating his ass off and questioning every last one of his life decisions when he heard his brother shouting for him from across the garage.
Easily as tall as Sy but two years younger and with a little less mass, Aaron was the second of three Syverson boys. Unlike Sy, he preferred his hair long and took great pride in caring for it, an abundant mass of dark curls that usually reached his shoulders. But at work, and during most of the summer, he kept it tied in a messy knot on the top of his head.
“Sy! Phone!”
Aaron moved fast across the floor, hand clamped around the bottom of a cordless landline to block the sound, two cheap blue popsicles still in their conjoined plastic tubes clenched between his teeth.
“By name?” Sy asked with a sigh as he approached.
Aaron shifted his grip on the phone to take the popsicles out of his mouth.
“Yep. It’s Ms. Bea. We expecting her in for something soon?”
“No, but I drove her granddaughter home last night, so - ”
Aaron’s eyes widened, and he frantically mashed at the button to put Ms. Bea on hold.
“You did what?” he asked, an obnoxious grin taking over his face.
“Settle down,” Sy mumbled, turning back towards the fan.
This was my favorite chapter so far!
😂 I love their brotherly antics
😂 the dynamic & similarities between her & her grandmother are so good!
😂 Aaron! 🤣
Thank you so, SO much!! I had so much fun writing Aaron but wasn’t sure if anyone else would like him or just scroll past him.
And thank you for the screenshots! Made me smile so big today 😊

“You did what?” he asked, an obnoxious grin taking over his face.
“Settle down,” Sy mumbled, turning back towards the fan.
“My permanently single, grumpy-ass older brother drove a girl home last night. I’m not settling down.”
“Not a girl. She’s a woman.”
Aaron let out a wordless shout, jostling Sy’s shoulder and plopping down on the table beside the fan, grinning even wider than before.
“Oh, there’s no way in hell I’m letting this shit go now. A woman, you say.”
Sy rolled his eyes.
“You gonna give me one of those?” he asked, jerking his chin toward the slowly melting popsicles.
“Only as a bribe,” Aaron answered, ripping the perforated wrappers apart and holding one out tauntingly.
“For what?”
“Information, dumbass.”
Sy snatched the popsicle out of his hand, holding it behind his back when Aaron swatted at it.
“Saw her walking home in the dark. Stopped to drive her home. Simple as that.”
“Uh huh. And what earned her the distinction of ‘woman,’ I wonder.”
“She’s a grown-ass woman, that’s what,” Sy said bluntly, stepping out of Aaron’s reach to rip open the top of the popsicle wrapper.
“Noticed her ass, did ya?”
Sy shot him an unimpressed look, breaking the top inch of frozen blue sugar into his mouth with a harsh bite and holding his hand out.
“Just give me the fuckin phone.”
“Five questions first,” Aaron argued.
“Three.”
“Four.”
“Go.”
Aaron clapped in delight, taking a moment to think before launching into his limited interrogation.
“Did you smile?”
“Yep.”
“Did she make you laugh?”
“Yep.”
Aaron smiled again, but this time there was no mischief tied up in it. He looked uncharacteristically sincere.
“Did you get her number?”
“Yes. Last one.”
He squinted thoughtfully.
“Butterflies?”
“Fuck off, Aaron.”
“Oh, shit, that’s a yes!”
Ooh so excited for this!!!
Thank you!! I’m glad you’re excited

Summary: You head home after a night at the bar.
Warnings: self-defense related anxiety
A/N: Thank you guys so, so much for all the kindness and support. I was blown away by the responses, and I truly appreciate it so much. So I’ve decided to keep going. I hope you’ll come on this little journey with me. I took the liberty of tagging the people who said they wanted to see more (it didn’t let me add some of you, but I did try). If you’d like me to take you off the list, just let me know!
Previous Chapter
You focused on taking deep, slow breaths as you walked along the side of the road, debating whether it was worth it to lose what little night vision you had by turning on your phone flashlight. You didn’t love the idea of not being able to see outside of the little circle of light it would provide, but you also didn’t love the idea of being hit by an unsuspecting car.
You don’t know why you had walked to the bar in the first place. It wasn’t like you. But your cousin had called when she heard you were in town, sounded so excited to meet up with you after her shift at the hospital and promised to pick you up from the bar at 10:00. You didn’t know her very well anymore, hadn’t been a part of her life in a long time, but you’d had no reason to distrust her.
After lingering in the parking lot for a good fifteen minutes with three calls gone to voicemail, you really hadn’t had any other choice but to start walking. In a town this small, there were no cab companies or ride shares to call. People relied on family and friends to get them around when they found themselves without a car. And you were short on both.

Things are brewing! They’re establishing! The plot is taking off!
I’m really still mushy over their banter. You do it in such a witty flirty way and it’s really cute. (The back and forth about the gun and knives–its homestly just so fucking cute) and just the general image of them in a tight physical space together and he’s trying to make himself less threatening and she’s hesitant–I mean, obviously….it’s late and dark and you’re in an isolated area with a semi stranger, as a woman–
I’m rambling and not making proper sentences but the image of them riding along to her home–and she didn’t lie and say something like drop me off a street over or something, like he went directly there–
Okay now the final phone call. What’s gonna happen thereeeeeee???? Isn’t that the dream, though….To travel and write like that… But does she draw or does she write or is it both??
And now the plot thickens even more with Grandma. You’re just the best. Country town. Banter. Grandmothers. Small bars. Mysterious respectful man getting the hots for Reader. Southern details of pines and all the damn animal noises at night. Accents. 😭😭😭😭😭 I want to devour morrrrrre
Listen. Listen, ramble as much as you want I am purely delighted by every second of it
And yes, yes, yes to all of it. Being a woman is fucking terrifying sometimes. And like yeah she had a nice time with him but anyone can be charming for an hour. And he’s trying so hard not to freak her out but he can’t just leave her walking down the side of a road in the middle of the night. Like he would rather give her the keys and strand himself on the side of the road than leave her there. What a man. Anyway.
She does both! It’s mostly the writing, but she draws them little portraits to go with the stories they tell her (or sometimes she’ll draw their hands or something if they don’t want their face attached to it). It’s a nice gift she can give them as a thank you - she just takes a picture of the drawing before she leaves so it can go on the website.
Thank you SO much I’m so glad you enjoyed it! And rest assured there will be plenty more to devour. I just finished my outline and am currently weeping because it’s 21 goddam chapters and I did not plan on being this ambitious right outta the gate but here we are. Damn my overactive imagination.
First let me say I’m super excited about what’s coming up, especially the dinner and any and all interactions with Nana.
Second, a question… they both seem to have some issues with the military, will we get to find out more about that?
(Love you love this series can’t wait for more yayyyyyyyyy)
Thank you! I’m excited too but all the things I’m excited about are in the second half 🫠
Oooooo sure 😂 It lived in my head, so it’s already a Thing but I can definitely work it in.
(Love YOU)
Hello, friends!
Sorry I had to leave you hanging this weekend. I had a monster of a grad school paper to tackle in addition to my usual work, and it drained my will to live writing reserves quite a bit.
But! Now that I’m confident in this little adventure, I’ve been planning and outlining. Second half is all nice and arranged, but I’ve got some gaps in the first half.
The point:
If there’s anything you’d like to see or like to know about our A Little More Heart duo, let me know! I’ll see if I can fit it in somewhere, or at least answer your question
And this is a side blog, so if you want an answer, it’ll need to be an ask!

Summary: On a night out with an old friend, Sy meets a woman who catches his interest.
Warnings: Just cursing and a little bit of alcohol
A/N: This could become a series? I’ve got little bits and pieces and some fun ideas. Let me know if you’d be interested in that. I’m new to this part of tumblr and very nervous…
Sullivan’s was pretty barren that night, not that anyone could expect much for this late on a Thursday night. A few regulars warming their usual barstools, making conversation and laying out their woes to a characteristically haggard Billy Sullivan as he filled the pretzel and peanut bowls. A duo of middle aged women talking gratuitous shit at a table near the middle of the room with frequent smoke breaks. A group of four guys, barely on the right side of 21, trying to boost their cool kid points by getting good at pool. One woman sitting at the end of the bar with a notebook, leaning heavily on her forearms in a way that read more fatigue than alcohol consumption. Looked like she was drinking lemonade.
Everyone who had been there when Syverson and Danny walked in two hours earlier was still holding steady.

I know I’m immersed in one of your stories when you’ve made me fall in love with literally every character and not just the hot, gentlemanly, adorkable, love interest. Like I already wanna be friends with Bonnie and hug grandma. I am invested immediately and it is the best feeling.
As someone who has personally written a moment where the characters joked about being murdered I appreciate that tension breaking moment in the truck so much. The line about her being inconsiderate was priceless! Televised fiction would be lucky to have you writing their dialogue.
Can’t wait to see what happens at dinner! 😆🥰
Wow you woke up and chose violence today. It’s fine. I’m not gonna cry about it. Don’t look at me.
You’re so KIND and I appreciate you so very much. I’m glad you’re still enjoying this ♥️
