I miss it when tv was real.
I love the dialogue of a league of their own (2022) so much! they may be from the greatest generation (estimated birthdates 1901-1927) but there's something about how the characters phrase their sentences that is so relatable and that's fun to feel from a historical drama!

I like that a league of their own emphasizes that (white) women are also enablers of systematic oppression, misogyny and racism. it's difficult to watch but it's so realistic.
female led media that discuss misogyny in their focused setting with nuance and depth + feature lesbian and lgbtia characters and relationships
you will always be dear to me.
what I love about a league of our own is focusing specifically on a women's team. on their ambitions, journey to becoming better sports players, their romances and their friendships.
a lot of female led sports stories tend to isolate female protagonists because they view them as the "minority" or the smurfette trope because of the "sports is a male dominated field" mentality
it tends to lean into androcentrism or a focus on "the only woman getting the respect of her male peers" which is uncomfortable to watch and frankly a little male centric.
and this is the exact reason why the queen's gambit is just eh for me.
but frankly that is the exact show that appeals to the mainstream androcentrism biased audience anyway.

loser lesbian behavior is when you can't help but cheer on your future girlfriend yet current rival's band

ao3 coded ass ship I love them so much
I love the implication that rae freely and respectfully gives complements like this to hestia's female audience members ๐คญ
she called ema this even before she found out it was her! ๐คญ๐คญ
my raema obsession proves that romance isn't dead but wow it truly is fun to be invested in a romance after sooo long.
the romantic development in girlfriend manual took a pause in the recent episodes in favor of character centric focus (which I don't mind btw!) but the people still yearn for romance.
I also like that the early scenes we got of rae shows her complexity and foreshadows both her character development and the development of her relationship with ema ๐คญ๐
it's me and my obscure wlw pairing against the world
ema and rae are technically ""rivals"" but I like that rae's animosity towards starfruit is only a result of her loyalty/defense of her fellow/new band member.
it also isn't truly targeted towards starfruit but to rocky!
I like that rae holds them accountable (even if she doesn't know the whole story).
but I'm even more excited for her to discover the truth because imagine having that loyal and protective woman as a (girl)friend ? ๐
she really doesn't truly hate ema ๐คญ
