chase was born & raised in a small town outside of toronto : kingston , where the main thing to do was play ice hockey in the winter & road hockey in the summer . with a father whose nhl career swiftly ended after rumors of juicing & a mother who’d been a summer fling turned mother of two , it was destined for chase to follow in his father’s footsteps . as soon as he could walk his feet were strapped into rollerskates to practice in the family’s basement , ice skates soon replacing them at the age of three . playing up a few years from his age bracket , chase was surprisingly fast & skilled at manoeuvering the puck into the net , his success on the ice was often met with criticism on the drive home : he made too many mistakes , he was told , even if he’d scored three goals , he was sloppy .
