“What is… Black Friday…?”
"It's a Friday when people think they're safe from the sin of fulfilling into their greedy desires. Except they're not safe."
"I can always see them."
Welcome to the jelly walkers…
"Oh my, well this is an amazing sight, Hello!!!"
“Hello there, friend! May I ask for your name?”
//Previously on this thread~//
“Angel! It’s OK I know you weren’t the one that did this, you were with me the whole time! besides, everyone was ok before I saw you, so it’s impossible that you could’ve been the attacker!”
Anise held angel’s hand and pressed it gently, it burnt a little as the jelly touched her crust, but She was a strong cookie that did not want to just let her friends suffer, she smiled at Angel and moved it a little upwards so It wouldn’t slip down and fall.
“Now let’s get going, I’m sure there’s someone ok in this town, it can’t be possible that we are the only two cookies in this whole place! hopes UP!”
Anise began walking again, holding Angel like a bag on her back with no problems, she seemed fragile like any other young cookie, but she was really strong, as she used to help to carry very heavy things around her hometown.
“If you say so…right! Let’s keep going!” Angel had a little more hope now, but it was still afraid for what must have happened to the town. If it wasn’t Angel who made this mess, who was it?
“I pray that if we do find someone, that they are safe. Something has gone awfully wrong.”
Angel was still worried for Anise on the other hand. Her injuries were one thing, but the fact that she seemed unphased by the harm slowly being done. Angel wasn’t used to others being so caring for it, especially like this. Will there be a point where Anise draws the line?
“I’m sure there must be someone alright, maybe the town’s coffee shop is alright, they…”
Anise stopped on her tracks for second and looked at the path before her, the sound of nothing but the wind just added to the tension of the moment, the bakery, the cookies there seemed very stressed out, Anise recalls they said that a lot of cookies left the town in a hurry after the meteorite landed, maybe they knew, maybe it was just a bad feeling, but if that was true then…
“They are gone… the bakery, the coffee shop, all of them ran away… I-I can’t believe I-”
Before she could even finish her sentence Anise thought of Angel and how worried it would be if it saw Anise stressed out, she looked at the floor and then closed her eyes really tight, after that she sighed and smiled again resuming her walk towards a shop she knew did not evacuate, the library, the cookie there seemed to know just what to do in this situation for some reason.
“Sorry I got a little antsy there, let’s get going, I’m sure the cookie in the library has some ideas of what might’ve happened to the town, and I believe they can help us!”
"Why do you say so? I don't doubt you, but why would specifically they not panic like the rest of the town?"
Angel could understand why others evacuated, but not why others would stay calm during these events. With the virus going around, cookies probably should take serious precautions. Perhaps some cookies really have no regard for safety. It recalled a few memories of cookies approaching the impact site just for a look at the meteorite and just leave. Does everyone even know about what's happening? It hoped that there was at least some way of communication to alert any cookies who don't know what's going on.
Devil was wandering, minding their own business- well, as much as Devil could manage to, anyway- when they spotted a familiar winged Cookie. At first, they planned to fly away, as Angel was nothing but trouble for a troublemaker, but hesitated once they saw the state that it was in. "A... Angel?" they called out, their tail tucked nervously as they took a couple hesitant steps toward it, "is that you? What happened to you?" (@sweetest--angel)
“Haah…it’s alright friend…” Angel was facing away from Devil, curled up in the tall grass in the shade of the meteorite that never shows signs of aging. A repulsive scent was in the air, likely from the meteorite, but it didn’t seem to mind. It laid in the grass like it was trying to hide itself, but not making a big enough effort to stay out of sight. Angel hardly noticed who it was speaking to, and spoke quietly as if it was talking to itself.
Devil stared at Angel for a few moments in disbelief. Presently disregarding the meteorite, they took a few steps closer, growing bolder in their annoyance over what seemed to be Angel’s disregard for its own health. “No, it really doesn’t look alright. You’re all banged up, and that-that’s not alright!” Devil’s voice faltered slightly as they spoke, but they kept talking anyway. Maybe they couldn’t be strong, but they could be stubborn. “I’m not messing around this time! I should really get you home, and… and…”
“Please don’t worry…everything is al…” Angel turned to see who it was speaking to, about to try and calm them down. Soon, Angel would be the one who needed calming down.
“Oh…oh no…you’re right…everything is not alright…no, there’s something wrong! Why are you here?!”
It quickly grew out of its soft spoken voice and began panicking. This wasn’t an effect of the jelly walker transformation, was it? Side effects like fatigue and amnesia affected Angel until it became used to it, but hallucinations was new to the list. It had to be a hallucination, right? No other answer could be given.
“Why am I here? Me? Why are you here? This place is like-” Devil glanced around, trying to find some kind of comparison. Whatever this place was, it didn’t feel safe. Someone like Angel surely didn’t belong in a place like this. Angel was a cookie of feathers and sunshine and happiness and all that… right? “Well, ah… hell if I know what it’s like, but I really don’t think we should be here!”
Devil stared at the meteorite, gripping their fork tighter and shrinking away from it momentarily before snapping their attention back to the task at hand. “Can you walk?” They approached Angel without hesitation, not entirely registering that they were the source of Angel’s panic.
“No!! You’re really scaring me now!! Wh-what’s happening?!” They shouldn’t be here. Angel backed away from Devil, but stayed in the shadow of the meteorite. Devil couldn’t possibly be in front of Angel right now. Not only are they here in good condition, from the looks of it at least, but they were showing proper concern for it. The concern only made Angel trust them less.
“I’m not going anywhere if that’s what you want! Are you trying to lure me out of this place? It’s not happening, fiend!”
Devil halted, nearly flinching as Angel snapped at them. “What…?” They felt like they had been slapped. Of all cookies, they never expected to be lashed out by Angel. “Yeah, I am a fiend!” They snarled, unfolding their wings and giving them an irritated flap. “So what? Didn’t you know that? Or were you just making me out to be another angel? I’m the bad guy, and I always have been!”
Devil swung their fork and slammed it against the ground in a small fit and then gave Angel a half-hearted glare. “…Fine, then, stay here. I don’t care,” they said in a lower tone of voice… only to sit on the ground with their arms crossed.
Angel turned away from their sight, getting up from when they backed up. The two looked like children who just got in a pointless fight, except this wasn’t. Angel didn’t see it as that however.
“Why must you torment me still…? I just want to keep cookies safe from my infection. You should know that…if you’re even real…”
Angel was coming to a conclusion in its head that this was some kind of trick to get it to leave from its new home to spread the virus. How someone could make this kind of illusion was a mystery however, so this left a string of doubt in its theory.
“Why did you even wait so long to come back ‘Devil’?”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Devil squinted at it, leaning forward. Something wasn’t right about Angel’s wings, they noted, but this time they held their tongue… this time. “You’re usually the one to torment me. Grabbing me by the tail, dragging me around, ruining my fun- sound familiar?”
Devil rolled their eyes. It’s not like Angel could see them with their back turned anyway. “I’ve never even been here before. I’m pretty sure I’d remember if I had. It smells awful, looks like some kind of wreck, and I feel like I’m being watched.”
They brought their knees to their chest and hugged them, as if that would make the place less… frightening? No, there was no way this place was frightening. Devil couldn’t get scared, right…?
"You're a creature of sin, my sibling. I only try to keep you out of trouble and steering farther than you already are from God. I have no intention to hurt you however. If anything, I'd like to keep you safe too." It seemed like Angel was starting to talk to Devil normally now, without any suspicion or accusations of being an image. Angel worried that it was falling for a trick, but if Devil wasn't going to try and take them home, it couldn't hurt to talk. Plus, whether they were fake or not, it was comforting to talk to Devil again.
"Yes, it's not very pleasing, but I have to stay here. You become used to the unsettling feeling eventually. It's better being here instead of some place with many cookies just trying to stay safe from the virus going around." Angel didn't acknowledge the scent of all things though, like it wanted to ignore that detail.
