jaime lannister is incomprehensible to the non asoiaf mind. yes he defenestrated a 9 year old. yes he’s fucking his twin sister. yes his incest started a war. yes he’s a widely loved fan favorite. no none of these things contradict each other

Ned coming up with excuses as to why he hates this game.
"Rhaegar had white hair jon, you don't have white hair."
"Why are you so annoyed?" "I was there catelyn, that didn't happen."
"Please not this game, anything else" "But jon is great at playing Rhaegar" "No. just no. By the gods no"
The Targaryen fixation of the recent installments of the Ice & Fire franchise is a direct outcome of GRRM's inability to finish the series, so the only products he could churn out are limited to the past, i.e. the Targaryen reign. In doing so, they indirectly goes against the main series' systemic critique of the legacy of Old Valyria, of which dragons were a key instrument in their colonization and tyranny. I don't fault any newcomer for thinking this way, but I am wholly apathetic towards the whole "imagine if the Daeron II era Targaryens had dragons!" or "they robbed us of the Targaryens speaking High Valyrian in AKOTSK!" because the distance between the Daeron II era Targaryens and their Valyrian ancestry is logical (how many generations has it been?), intentional, and makes their characterization richer and more nuanced. It's understandable to be enthralled by the coolness factor of dragons, but to neglect the series' overall critique of structures of power and theme of creating your own destiny in spite of the bloodied baggage of your predecessors is to miss the forest for the trees.
the girl who won’t grow up
seeing all the leaked screencaps of the aged up gaang got me thinking about yue </3
(no reposts; reblogs appreciated)
modern joncon gets viral for being asked those is it better to speak or to die videos in the street and by (accidentally) not responding while just staring at the camera with his anguished demeanor so people think that was an intentional poetic response
the way the ONLY two dayne’s in the whole series we’re introduced to are complete opposites. sweet little ned dayne being dragged around the cursed riverlands with the brotherhood without banners by beric and then stoneheart. his aunt allyria is probably sending out ravens with missing posters.
and then. fucking darkstar.
Me when I hear ppl saying bran will be a magical dictator, lowkey insinuating he’s just there for back up or do fuck all in twow because “he’s just not main character material” and that sweetrobin should die for being a bit annoying and bratty not realizing they’re just angry kids under 10 that are frustrated with how society defines them because of their disability with one not even having that much of a support network bar a few ppl but most are literately waiting for him to die
sweetrobin is a very easy character to root for because all he has to do is not die. he doesn’t have to make any decisions he just has to hold in there. i think he can do it idk!!!
The sick/disabled sibling being loved and cherished by another sibling dynamic is such a prevalent theme in the series i can’t imagine ppl totally agreeing with killing shireen a cured child with constant reminder of their past ailment as a totally justified thing like that’s the point of her sacrifice it’ll be cruel, horrible and won’t benefit anyone and I certainly don’t think Jon would be totally cool with that
Here's how we know Sansa isn't intentionally poisoning her cousin: we're in her head.
Alayne and the little lord alone in The Eyrie
my wish for akotsk s2 is that anytime egg wonders about his family while on the road with dunk we get a 5 second cutaway gag of aerion bored and annoyed in lys. or daeron drunk and depressed in summerhall. or maekar
Harrenhal must be held, though, and Baelor Butthole here is the man that Cersei chose to hold it. (Jaime III, AFFC)
I cannot emphasise just how badly I need this man and jon 'that will stop him bitching about his boil' snow to meet
You can’t say you don’t like the secret prince trope with YG without also critiquing Jon snow’s entire character in the story he’s the number one character that follows those tropes,I’m sorry😭 they’re just examined through different lenses and that’s interesting
yesssss!!!!!!!! yg is a sheltered teenager as jon once was and has not been humbled yet!!!! he will and it's gonna be interesting but is not rotten or bad!!!!!
