Ever since I started questioning my sexuality, I've been looking for a story - a book or a movie or a TV show - with a character that is still questioning and coming to terms with their sexuality. I think I thought that if I saw how they handled it, it might help me to figure some things out too.
Love, Simon came out around the time where I was seriously questioning my sexuality, and I remember sobbing throughout most of the movie, and coming out of the cinema streaming with happy tears, because I had found something that I could relate to (that and it just such a great movie). I think that movie really helped me to figure things out and start to accept myself and stop being in denial about who I really was.
Then I heard about Leah On The Offbeat and knew I had to read it asap. A story about a bisexual girl!!!!! who actively shows feelings for males AND females!!!! but is still nervous to tell some of the people she's closest to!!!! naturally, I loved it (you should definitely read it if you haven't already!!) but I was still slightly disappointed that I couldn't fully see myself reflected in Leah's character or story - I wanted to see a story about someone coming to terms with their sexuality, someone who is still questioning, someone who is confused about all these feelings.
And now I've watched the Love, Victor trailer, and I think this might be the story I've been searching for for so long.

I can already tell that this series is going to be so important to so many people, especially those who are still trying to figure themselves out. I may have figured myself out already, I can now proudly say that I identify as bisexual, but I can still see bits of my story in Victor's, and as much as it's going to hurt, I'm glad that we'll see a character who doesn't have it as easy, who doesn't have accepting parents, who is struggling.
I truly cannot wait for this series to come out, and I can't wait to see where Victor's story ends up.
