A hike to Gokyo Ri will take you over 17,000 feet above the Himalaya. Above lakes and clouds you’ll get a whole new perspective on its neighbor, Mount Everest. Photography by Kiwisoul, Getty Images.
sad girl music
In 2014, I was 21 and I was still trying to get over some stuff. The traumas of young adulthood... I compare your first few years of adulthood to your first few years of life; you’re making all sorts of mistakes with your freedom, your love life, your body, except this time you’re all on your own- no parents. During this time, artists like SZA & Jhene Aiko were considered indie, and they sustained me with their soulful songs about mistakes and heart break. My boyfriend at that time called it “sad girl music”. Instead, I like to think of it as “brave girl music”. This music was for girls just like me, girls brave enough to deal with themselves. Brave enough to go through the painful process of acknowledging hurt and healing yourself. Me and that boyfriend didn’t stay together long and I continued to use melodies from SZA and Aiko like peroxide on the fresh cuts from that rocky stage of my life.
