It will never cease to astound me that people read Techno as the repressed one and Phil as the emotionally healthy one.

Techno is so clear and direct in experiencing his emotions and expressing them.

Phil tried to speed run mourning his son and has looked at an emotion direcly in 367 years.

Maybe it because people see Technos jokes as repression rather than a coping skill, and see Phil's laughter as him being genuinely fine rather than his default response, but like techno genuinely experiences and can verbalise his emotions sincerely and directly.

Phil is pretty sure that sad is the name of an emotion he thinks

YES!!! I am especially in agreement on 'Techno waits to process them when it's safe but he DOES process them and doesn't stop himself feeling them in the moment,' and the 'Philza has the aesthetic of emotional vulnerability" but honestly, I don't think Phil even means to do that, he is just like, very good at listening to and mirroring other people.

Like we've seen him come close to being actually emotionally vulnerability like a handful of times, like- The book he wrote for Ghostbur, 'Since i was forced to kill my SON you IDIOT, when do you THINK', kinda when he spoke to Ranboo about Ghostbur, when he was talking to Techno before he went to prison, a little bit from when Techno came back.

But the rest of the time we see him he's generally listening to and mirroring the people he's talking to: ie When he speaks to Wilbur after his return, his conversation with Fundy when he took him fishing and he spoke to Fundy after when Wilbur returned, when he spoke to Ranboo after doomsday, when he spoke to Ranboo about the splash bottles, most conversations with Techno where techno talks about how he's doin, his conversations with Tommy -

those are all times where it feels like he's being emotionally vulnerable but in reality he's listening and mirroring the people he's talking to, occasionally responding with his own anecdote.

And i don't think he intentionally cultivates that aesthetic, i think it's just a biproduct of how he functions in those conversations.

Like, its definitely useful for him! cause he seems well adjusted and emotionally literate so folks don't tend to ask him or pressume he's not doin well, but i dunno if he like- does it on purpose to avoid it if that makes sense.

He just like, generally finds emotions and processing to be like- inconvenient and often unsafe to like have (so much of phil is rooted in survival) so he simply doesn't.

He is always waiting for the safe moments, but he also doesn't know how to internalize the feeling of being safe in a way where he is allowed to let his guard down and make himself unsafer. Maybe,, ya know?

Let’s take this moment to appreciate the fact that given Techno’s incredible amount of conflict avoidance Philza Minecraft has chosen to undertake the role of the ultimate Technodefender. Philza is the most in tune to what’s going on in the group dynamic I think, even compared to Wilbur who is pretty aware himself, and Phil just does not give any bothers about telling people off for being mean to Techno.

For evidence see:

- Philza flipping off chat for pressuring Techno to stream

- Philza interrupting Tommy and saying Techno’s successful because he’s just good at making videos

- Philza being so fucking relieved when Techno won the duel that he said he jumped out of his seat when he won

ok two things; one people talking about this post is making me acknowledge the passage of time and i don’t like it, two:

i think this is how a ton of people feel when they just hear about techno from other people for a while before watching him. his reputation is kind of intimidating but he’s so nice it wins people over and it’s fun to see :) especially people like during mcm who were like partnered with him for the first time and then realized how sweet he was it’s just yeah

The rest of this will be a copy a paste (with edits) from the previous blog. All the rambles and explanation for each part and each person (as in why Tubbo is being held by his leg/ my thought process for them)

Before I start rambling, I want to mention the fact that Phil is never looking at the sky around him, but at the faces and expressions of his friends.

There are two more people in addition to the sbi and Kristin from the last one (The first version of this post). Tubbo and Ranboo, whom I just consider sbi++ tbh.

First one is none other than Miss Kristin herself. I actually used a picture from their Instagram as reference for their clothes. I actually straight up imagine this was from their wedding day(?). I hope I drew Ms Kristin okay. I’m still figuring out how to draw her tbh.

Second is Wilbur. So when I was drawing all of them, I was thinking of what expressions they all would be making. Like Kristin and Phil would be all happy and stuff. And the idea of Wilbur just fucking grappling with the idea that if Phil drops him, it’s fucking over. He’d be done for. Dead (maybe). That idea was funny to me for some reason. So I imagine he just has a look of acceptance/fear while Phil is trying to figure out if he’s okay.

Third is Tommy. He probably gets dropped. L. Because you probably don’t carry someone like that while flying. (Probably because how am I supposed to know.) Tommy is just fucking screaming his lungs out btw.

Tubbo! He actually fucking fell. I asked my friend, “Help me make a decision. Tubbo and Phil. Cute. or Chaos.” “chaos” “CHAOS IT IS” So the idea, in my head, is that Tubbo was originally given a piggy back ride. Tubbo, chaotic, just sort of climbs Phil like a jungle gym or smt and sits on his shoulders. It was great for like five seconds and then he fell. You fucking bet he’s grappling with the idea of death.

Ranboo. The one picture I had in my head the whole time I was drawing them was just. “L o n g c a t.” Cause Ranboo was drawn in such a way that I was thinking of cats being picked up.

Techno. Again, that’s not the way you hold someone while flying but yeah. Techno is probably the only other person to not feel fear in this whole thing. The first being Miss Kristin

(It seemed fitting for Ranboo and Techno to have the aurora scene)

And the last one. Idk man I just wanted to draw a god.
