If I understood this weeks topic correctly, the two poems i will be discussing is "We real Cool" by Gwendolyn Brooks and "We old Dudes" by Joan Murray. They both are short and have a smaller amount of stanza's compared to many other poems. They relate in two different perspectives, one is about teens life and the other is about older adults life. They both use similar end rhymes and have similar messages. It is as if Joan Murray piggy backed on Gwendolyn Brooks.

In essay of Gloria E. Anzaldua, "Haciendo caras, una entrada" she speaks into debt about racism and the internal affects one recieves from it. This poem to me help me see in a much clearer picture of the poem "I, Too" by Langston Hughes. She speaks about how whites and im sure of other racis as well, belittle the effects of racism. "Racism sucks out the lifeblood from our bodies, our soulds" (page 14). Nobody likes to speak about it or defend it. Hughes is the outcome of not only racism but segregation. Years ago this was way worse compared to now, but even now a days it is very hurtful. Anzaldua helped me dig deep into racism and how naive many of us are to it and made me understand Hughes even more and understand why he was fighting, because he felt hurt and belittled. #Week12
This week we get to do free verse.
"If we move too fast,
we'll break things.
if we move to slow,
we'll miss things.
and if we don't move
at all, we wont see
things for how
beutiful they truly
are."
-rmdrk
This poem is self descriptive. Americans/our society tend to either move too fast, to slow or just don't even move at all. Those who are busy working or staying busy miss the important things in life: family, kids games, get together, and most importantly quality time. they make no memories. Those who are to slow are like snails, they stay stuck in one place and don't enjoy the rest of the beauty. Lastly there are those who don't do anything. They are either afraid to start moving or simply lazy. These miss everything. They get no memories.

Aggravated.
Friendships, employment, grade point average, beliefs, and patience all bottled up in one bottle will eventually fill up and crack.

Week 8- Rythm
An anonymous author wrote Bonny Barbara Allan. In this poem they use end rhythm with some alliteration.
In Bonny Barbara Allan on page 597, each of there paragraphs in at least one stanza end with -ing. "When the green leaves were afalling" (line 2). "to a place where she was dwelling" (line 6). "To the place where he was lying" (line 10). They continue there poem using the same structure.
Week 5: Irony, symbolism, allegory.
"If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30"If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell." Mathew 5:29-30
I don't know why when i first say the definition of irony i thought of this verse. From what i read, irony is something that is the opposite then what it actually means. This verse is not telling you to go out and tear your eye out literally, or telling you to go cut your hand. Are body parts are being used to symbol the sin they can do. if you are committing adultery by looking at other women or men, mover your eyes away and take it away from what is making you sin. the symbolism of cutting them off just means change, change if what you do with your hands or eyes and etc...
Week 5-Personification
From what I the have read and the examples I have seen, the poem "you fit into me" by Margaret Atwood seems to fit the examples and definition.
"you fit into me
like a hook into an eye
a fish hook
an open eye"
I feel as if this poem is trying to show whether a relationship/family/experience has fit perfectly into ones life without realizing in the end this person or thing will forever change their view on a person, or event, or an experience.
On Instagram I follow this writer named r.m drake. He always posts his writing, which is by the way amazing. This quote here has probably been one of my favorites. After showing it to my roommate I realized she didn't understand it. This is probably is very cheesy, but i enjoy this because i can relate. If a person has never been through something that this can relate to then there will be no importance and they will not understand. I did not think this was difficult to understand until my roommate didn't. From what i understood this is about a person who has either a special someone or even best friend that can be there for you and make a bad situation into a small one.
Connotation: Andy Mineo- Wild Things
Andy is one of my favorite rap artist. Many of his songs have deep meanings behind them. The first time i heard this song i was kind of scared. It kept taking about going into the wild. You have to really listen to this song to understand what it is meaning. He says he wants to go to the wild not in literal terms but in the form of him/Christians going into the wild. Go into places where no one ever goes to spread the gospel and love from the man above. Many people if they hear this song without actually listen to it may think he wants to o to the safari or something, but there is something there much more than the words.
Hope you enjoy!
"I wanna go where the wild things are I'm talking lions, tigers, bears (oh my) Christ died for the terrible heart That's why I wanna be where the wild things are [Verse 1] Welcome to the church in the wild I live with dudes haven't been to church in a while I've chosen this lifestyle, you ever met my friends? Porn stars, dope dealers, they like, "Why you chill with them"? I thought you was a Christian? Yeah I'm on that team But I'm with them cause my life's the only bible that they've ever seen Some wanna be an earshot from the church bell I wanna win souls, make gunshots in the worst hell Telling 'em Christ became a curse for they sin with my words and my works They won't come in? I'm bringing church to them Yeah, that's why I live where I live They say, "You acting cray, that ain't no place to raise your kids" But um, if we ain't living it who else gon' show em What a family supposed to look like instead of them broken homes Gotta be living stones around where they getting stoned Live and know Him, die to make Him known 'til He take us home, let's go [Hook] [Verse 2] If you catch me in a bar where the wild things are With my pastor and an entourage who loves God Please don't think that it's odd, we kick it 'round broken hearts Fishing for men, surrounded by sin but ain't taking part I talk about Jesus, all the Christians love me I walk like Jesus now they wanna judge me, ain't it funny? I'm ducking stones thrown from the Pharisees Gospel of Peace up on my feet like a pair of cleats Walking with the Paraclete, that's Greek for The Spirit They say the wild things'll eat you up Who shall I fear when God is walking with me If I die that's a win, that's the seed of the church plus I get to be with Him And we so undefeated like Hanes made our sneakers I had beef with Jesus and my sin it got deleted So I gotta go and speak it to those who really need it Let the Gospel off the leash, go and be where the beasts at"
Hey guys, My name is Maritza, but some people call me Ritz. I am a sophomore majoring in ESL Education. I am really passionate in education as well as helping international students get accustomed to our education system. I enjoy traveling and seeing new customs as well as photography. I am nowhere near good at taking pictures, but it’s a stress reliever and fun. I have a brother and two sisters; of course I am the baby. I have an amazing boyfriend, as well as a great best friend. I usually spend my time with my close loved one watching movies, bowling, or even roller skating. I am pretty involved in church and I am also a strong believer. I hope to someday not only teach students here in the United States, but also get to travel around and teach those who are in great need of education. I am looking forward to this semester, especially for poetry. I am excited to here all of yalls thoughts and opinions as well learn more about poems. I think I am finally going to enjoy reading for a class. (LOL)
