"Really?I guess that's one more thing we have in common," he tells her, after all, Avery was here because he knew there were people like him around, if Jesse never told him about it, he'd...well he didn't even know where he'd be, "Look, I don't doubt you can kick some ass, baby, just--I guess I'm a worrier," to be honest he always been, very protective of his friends too. "Aw, that's not crazy, Maia," he gently sqeezes her, "We all get nightmares, right? some more than others, I've been a restless sleeper, I don't think you have anything to feel crazy about, and I'm here at any time, okay? just call me or come knock on my door, it's fine," it was also not like he had a job to worry about waking early to get to either, so... and he wanted to be here for her, Avery had taken a liking on the girl pretty much since the day they met, it was the way he was and there was probably no changing it at this point. "See now, how didn't I think to come look for bandmates here? I'm sure the bears would be so fucking down, plus! that roar on a heavy metal song? A plus," Avery laughs as he jokes around with her, turly glad had found Maia to make things seem lighter. "So you figured I was something? how? I mean, I'm giving off some kind of vibe?" he was honestly just being curious about it, "I don't mind if anyone asks, but yeah, I can see how it can feel a bit--Off?" he looks over at her, he's glad to hear those words, though he still has that terrible fear of hurting someone he likes, "Thank you," Avery breaths out, "Just--I wanted you to know, because I--can't I have no control and while you don't make me angry, at all, I don't ever want to freak out on you, I'm just--so fucking scared I ever gonna hurt someone...just promise me you'll be careful and if ever I'm about to lose it around you, you'll leave, doesn't matter what kind of situation it is, leave me to get my ass kicked I don't care, I just--want you to be safe."
"I'd bet a good chunk of people come here for that reason. Sure I probably am not necessarily looking for answers here but I was curious." Maia lived a long enough life that she knew what she was doing with her siren form but once she heard about Greywood she had to admit she was curious, plus it came at a time where she was in hot water and needed a safe haven. She smiled softly at Avery, not used to someone genuinely worrying about her. "You're sweet, you know that?" Maia shrugged slightly. "Yeah well my nightmares happen pretty much every time I close my eyes. I've always had them, even as a kid." Which was a long time ago but it had only gotten worse once she turned. But it really meant a lot to her that Avery was so adamant that she didn't have to go through it alone.
"You always have to be on the look for new bandmates, you never know where the best ones are going to pop up." She laughed. "Wait a bear roar on a heavy metal song would be so cool, you absolutely need this now."
"Well first I assume everyone in this town is something. It seems the humans are the rare ones. But also you just have that vibe about you? You carry a lot of trauma with you that seems to come with supernaturals." Maia said with a small shrug, she's been around enough that she had seen her fair share to make assumptions. "But yeah I feel like it depends on each person. Personally I wouldn't be offended if anyone asks as well but I could see how some people might be." Maia's heart broke a little for him, clearly this has been weighing on Avery for a while. "I promise you won't hurt me, but there's a chance if you do lose control around me I could help calm you down. And I can't promise I am ever going to leave you in a dangerous position, you already mean too much to me to let that happen."
