Tear-drinking Moth
Gorgone macarea
Known from drinking tears from sleeping birds, aka lachryphagy, which allows them to fulfill their nutritional need of salt
Other moth species have been found to have this same behavior, one video even catches moths drinking moose tears!
Found in the Amazon rainforest
They use their probiscis to pierce the eyelid, or slide it in between for access
Don't worry, this doesn't harm the birds!
This unique behavior has limited documentation in moths, but still very cool!
Takashima Yajūrō aka 高島野十郎 aka Yajuro Takashima (Japanese, 1890-1975, b. Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, d. Noda, Chiba, Japan) - Candle, Paintings: Oil on Board
Yea little dude! That's you !!
no dude it's so cool how attached you are to that character who is singled out and ostracized due to the external monstrousness that clashes with their internal spark of humanity. and i love how drawn you are to themes of horror and love, nature versus nurture, otherness, isolation, and the abject. i bet you have normal feelings about your own personhood

"that would definitely be you" when elizabeth is gently interacting with the creature in frankenstein is one of the kindest observations my boyfriend has ever made about me
