This zine is me taking a crack at delving into a culture I’ve grown a huge interest in since I’ve begun traveling with various music projects over the years. Content includes: an article about Gene Simmons written by Andrue Coombes, album suggestions by Josh Tracy (me), a recipe for Vegan Cookie Dough Truffles written by my good buddy Justin Walker, an interview with Andy the Doorbum where he introduces me to information about the Alien Native Movement, a review of TRAGWAG’s newest LP Maybe You Can relate. a review of a classic extreme wrestling match between icons Sabu and Terry Funk, and in depth article written by the man the myth the legend the Emotron about life after quitting social media as a performer and artist. Issue #1 was a ton of fun for me and opened my eyes to my feelings about myself and how I feel about music and it brought me closer to a lot of good friends I have made in our little punk culture.
I’m currently working on distributing Issue #1 to a number of places and zine libraries. I will also be going guerrilla and trying to leave issues in public places. More on this later. As well as distribution I’m working on creating a web source (most likely a blog) which has been a slow process due to my recently quitting the use of Facebook social media. If anyone is particularly into creating blogs (specifically on tumblr) please don’t be afraid to be in contact. Also I am looking for motivated people to contribute to the zine from anywhere and everywhere and I’m looking to compile all sorts of types of content. Though music and wrestling? were topics in the first issue I want to greatly expand the type of content in the zine. I also accept advertisements from labels, distros, musicians, and what have you for no cost to those individuals. I just use a first come first serve basis. POCKET CAT RECORDS was featured in Issue #1 and they have a cut out mail-order form.
Please re-blog this or share with friends who might also be interested in contributing to or receiving a copy of deathwave #1. :) :) :) <3 <3 <3
