You and Leon had always been close. So close that some might label it as concerning. But you don't see it that way!
Leon is your baby boy, your only son and you are his mom. How can there be something as being too close? Absolute insanity! Of course your sweet boy would be close to you, you are his role model, his sweet darling mom. He could never go a moment without thinking of you, just as much as you couldn't go without thinking of your sweet boy.
"Mom, while I was out I saw this cute cat sleeping... it made me think of you" "Mom, I heard you had a bad day at work.. so I made dinner for us!" "Mom, I brought you some flowers, happy birthday!"
it makes you smile, how could it not? In a world full of brash and rude men, your son was a welcome breath of fresh air. He was a gentle soul, always so willing to help others, always offering soft words and gentle encouragement to his peers. Your son was seen as the ideal man from most of your neighborhood.
But at the end of the day, Leon was just that. Your son. He could never fill the void that a partner could. And after spending a huge part of your life by yourself after divorcing his father, you felt like you could start dating again, a girl gotta get herself out there!
But ever since you brought the possibility up, Leon didn't seem like himself anymore... of course he's fine! He doesn't want to make his mommy dearest worry! But you can't help but notice how his smiles are a bit more brittle whenever you mention that guy you went out with.
Why did you even need another man? Wasn't he right there? Hadn't he played the part perfectly? Being anything you could ever want in a man. Gentle attentive and caring... so why are you looking elsewhere?
You had just finished getting ready for a date you had scheduled a couple of weeks in advance, you hadn't heard from your date in some days, but he hadn't called to say the date was off... so it's still on of course! That's what you were thinking at least until you saw Leon descend from the stairs, looking rather happy as he plopped down on the couch, the springs creaking in protest as he flicked the TV on, deliberately turning on the news channel.
"Leon, sweetheart... you know I don't like you watching that stuff... you'll just ruin your day with all those bad articles.." I stated with a quiet sigh, making your way towards the couch as you reached down to grab the remote, intent on turning the TV off.
And then you heard the news
" —— , local resident, has been found dead in his apartment from what looks to be a self inflicted gun wound–" the moment you heard those words you felt your knees give out, leaning heavily against the back of the couch as your purse fell to the ground, its contents clattering on the floor aa you stared at the screen in bewilderment.
In your shock, you barely even noticed Leon's reaction, the smile that spread on his face at that moment oozing with triumph. Approaching the bastard had been easy, almost pathetically so. The memory of the interaction made Leon shudder with disgust.
That thing really thought that he was going to be a permanent fixture in your life, acting all buddy buddy with Leon, saying that he wanted to be like a father to him. Those words had made him almost want to brutally kill the bastard. But he didn't want to disappoint his darling mom, so he settled for making it look like a suicide instead. Serves the asshole good for thinking he could even look at you.
The sound of your soft sobs seemed to be enough to bring Leon out of his momentary daze as he put on the most hurt expression he could muster, gathering your trembling form in his arms as he gently started comforting you.
"Come on mom... don't cry... maybe he wasn't as stable as he seemed.." the lie tumbled so easily from his lips, he had to stop himself from snickering as he gently guided you back to your bedroom, helping you sit down on the bed as he sat beside you, pulling you into his arms as he gently rocked you, keeping you buried into his chest in an effort to hide the smile on his face as he breathed in you sweet perfume.
"It's okay mom... you have me, I'll never leave you... never."
This is kinda ass for a part one... but part two is already in the works. See you next year with it 🙏🏾
