Read for book club. Fun story about a brother and sister who are orphaned and need to work to survive. They end up at a house that is more than a bit odd, in a (bad) magical kind of way. The author weaves the topic of storytelling into the story itself, which I found to be interesting.

Read via audio. I really enjoyed this alien (with "zombies") story. The idea of a story about a spaceship that has landed on earth but has just sat there for 3 years, doing "nothing," is a nice twist on a well-used topic. Doucette's narrative is descriptive, but not cumbersome, and his characters are smart and likeable, but not perfect. All around a fun book that sucks the reader in.
