Uh oh! One of XANA's monsters somehow broke into wherever you are now! Using whatever's on hand, how good are your odds of taking it down? Is there an episode that scared you the most as a kid? Do you have a favorite Subdigitals song? Does the answer vary between French and English?

oh heck! I'm goosed I'm afraid, unless XANA monsters suddenly have a particular weakness against giant plush frogs T_T I guess I could thwack them with this big lamp. Otherwise it's time to run away~

Y'know I don't remember being all that scared of CL! I think some of the scenes of XANA possessing people might have creeped me out, but Courage the Cowardly Dog is the show I remember as being nightmare fuel for me, haha.

Ooh Subdigitals! I prefer the French versions on the whole but I'd say my overall favourites are Get Away/S'en Aller, Break Away/S'envoler (argh, why so similarly named?!) and Planète Net. Ah, but Secret Life/Sauver le monde is so good too...!

(Well. All that said, A World Without Danger/Un Mon Sans Danger is obviously the best one, but that went without saying. <3)

Tell me about your favorite CL pairing :) And if it's not OddRich, I also want to hear about your vision for OddRich too!

AHHH this is an evil question for a multishipper!! Funny enough I used to only ship Jerlita, Ulumi, Oddlita, and Odd/Sissi (very original I know), not because I didn’t like any other pairing, but literally because I had never thought of them. But after I joined the fandom, I feel like my eyes have been opened to all the possibilities.

I don’t think I have just one favorite :’) But I literally ship everyone with Jeremie. Every LW, including William, and I could be talked into shipping him with some of the other students, too. I also love polyshipping all 5 (or 6) of them together, and the JerOddLita polyship. Then there’s Oddlita, Yumlita, Oddrich, Herve/Nicolas (which you literally sold me on), Yumi/Sissi, Aelita/Sissi, WillOdd – I also ship Odd/Sam (Knight), purely because they seem to like each other and I’m interested in their dynamic. But the show itself doesn’t give us much.

For Oddrich, I think you hit the nail on why I love them so much. “Too comfortable” is the perfect way to describe them. I think with a lot of the other ships, there can be a lot of awkwardness, or some UST, or just very adorable fluff (all of which I love of course), but I feel like Oddrich’s dynamic would be soo comfortable and casual. Like “blur the line between friendship and romance” comfortable. They’re just them.

I don’t know if this was a cop-out answer, so I’m going to share some of the fics that sold me on some of the pairings above:

Titre pas encore donné by quiter10 sold me on Jerich (up until then I thought the idea was cute but had never seriously considered it)

amaranthine by dame_de_la_chance sold me on Jerodd (similar to above, thought it was cute but never really considered it)

Triple Trouble by dame_de_la_chance sold me on JerOddLita (honestly inevitable after shipping Jerlita, Oddlita, and Jerodd)

Without Words by Skye sold me on Yumlita (LOVED their friendship in the show and wish it’d been shown more; I’m surprised I’d never shipped them before)

YOUUU sold me on Herve/Nicolas with your zoo idea, and your fic Two Sugars. How dare you make me add more ships to my ever-growing list.

And honestly there are so many more authors and fics I love, some of them shippy and some not. To shout-out some more authors: Coolgirl526 (not sure if they’re on tumblr?), @vexfulfolly, @yoshistack, @souljellied (I ADORE your “Sissi finds the supercomputer” AU!!), @lunarraven56 and still more! I’m really impressed by you all not only being great writers but also keeping the characters’ voices and portraying them so accurately! I truly feel blessed by this fandom <33

Okay I'm rewatching Season 2 and loving it, I really need to make a post with some commentary on some of my favorite episodes from the first two seasons (spoiler alert: it's all of them; they're all my favorite episode)

But this scene from Xana's Kiss, I HAD to talk about because first of all, love the squad immediately going "get this bitch" when the Jeremie clone grabs Aelita, but also interesting to see how differently they all respond!

Jeremie and Odd go straight for him, Ulrich grabs his feet to topple his balance (martial artist flex btw), and Yumi grabs Aelita to get her away

#every so often i wonder if the idea that the kids are super capable at fighting irl is more fanon than canon#then i am reminded that odd can and will jump high enough to kick someone in the chest

I always have this same thought before every rewatch, and then am always reminded once again how insanely athletic they are. it's crazy too because it comes out of nowhere, like no explanation or comment on how good they are, it's just "this is how it is"

I feel like there was some fanon about their trips in the scanner making them more physically resilient than most, which I've always thought was an interesting possibility!

But that aside, I guess we're lucky that the kids who found the supercomputer just happened to be two Pencak silat martial artists, and the absolute maverick that is Odd Della Robbia with his flying kick.

What are some of your favorite rarepairs?

Jeremie/Ulrich is a top-tier one for me, all the little nuances of their relationship that you've got to dig a little deeper for when watching the show, but are most definitely there. They have a quiet, respectful rapport and mutual support that's just *chef's kiss* opposites attract, indeed!

Jeremie/Odd for different yet similar reasons as above.

Sissi/Aelita has so much potential I feel, for all the odd parallels and interesting contrasts between them. They each have so much that the other envies, and that's forever interesting to me.

Sissi/Sam (Suarez) is wild but I'll forever be thinking about Strawberry Sauce for making it so real to me, A++ fic

Odd/Herve is something I think about, don't ask me why I just see something in them!

Patrick Belpois/Odd, and Aelita/Lise because there's nothing I love more than spinning in-depth tales about characters who show up for like 0.2 seconds *affectionate fist clench*

Franz/Jean-Pierre because maybe something happened in the thousands of loops on June 6th 1994, who are we to say otherwise?? (there's a five-year WIP in my fics folder that wants to be heard, oops)

Not sure that Oddrich or Sissi/Yumi counts as a rarepair any more, but they felt way less prominent back when I was in my heyday of writing CL fic! I love them both, of course.

I love these!! I forget if I've said it before, but one of my favorite fics of yours is the Odd/Herve one! It was just one of those things I had literally never considered and then you painted a beautiful crystal clear picture for me.

I'm also very interested to see if anything comes from the JP/Franz idea?

Hmmm some of my favorites would be Herve/Nicolas, Milly/Tamiya, Jim/JP (thank you twin-sized mattress), Odd/Yumi... I'm also not sure if ships like Sissi/William or Odd/Sam count as rarepairs, but they're up there for me as well!

I've just started Two Sugars and you're reminding me how much I LOVE the Sissi/Herve/Nic trio - endlessly fascinating to consider how they became friends and what the specific interpersonal dynamics of that group are. Nic and Herve just hanging out and being super sweet together is something I didn't know I needed. Loveeee.

The most interesting question you can ask about any character is not what do they want. it's what do they believe they deserve. because those two things are almost never the same and the gap between them is where your entire story lives. a person can want love completely and believe they don't deserve it and that belief will destroy every good thing that comes toward them in ways they won't even notice they're doing. write the gap. the gap is the character.

My answer has changed a lot over the years, but my current self would most certainly have some kind of clown/jester aesthetic. Maybe I'd be able to duplicate myself, or do short-range teleportation in puffs of colourful smoke? Weapons-wise it'd be something silly, like a big rubber ball that boinks enemies on the head, or a more serious throwing-knives kinda deal.

And oops indeed! How did I end up here?! No doubt messing around somewhere, with something I shouldn't, while procrastinating on my day job or scouting out a new location for an art piece. Or I've seen something weird going down and couldn't stop myself jumping into the fray to help out... well, no turning back now, let's have fun with it!
