Man Charged After Injuring Pedestrian While Driving Under the Influence

Victor Kwak has been charged with aggravated assault by auto after driving while intoxicated and hitting a 28-year-old pedestrian in Jefferson. Kwak lost control of his vehicle and hit a curb, then a tree and a wooden utility pole before he swerved onto the sidewalk, colliding with the pedestrian, who suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Kwak was charged with assault by auto within 1,000 feet of a school, a second-degree crime. He has a history of motor vehicle summonses that include reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.

Driver That Killed Three in Tragic Jefferson Car Accident Admits to Being Twice the Legal Limit

The driver of a Ford Explorer that crashed into a home and killed three of his family members has admitted to being “probably twice the legal limit [of alcohol]” when the accident occurred. The allegedly drunk driver lost control of the vehicle while driving nine passengers and crashed into a neighborhood house, ejecting multiple people from the vehicle. A 62-year-old, her 11-year-old granddaughter, and a 36-year-old pregnant woman all died in the accident.

The driver has been charged with multiple counts of vehicular homicide, aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto.

Drunk Driver Dead After Head-On Collision in Old Bridge

Ashley Sara Chieco was killed when driving the wrong way on Route 18 in Old Bridge this month. After drinking at a bar with friends, Chieco got into a car that was not hers and left, driving north in the southbound lane of Route 18.

She crashed head-on into another vehicle and died from her injuries. The other driver was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Situations like these usually have one of two negligible parties- either the driver who caused the accident is considered negligent or the bar can be considered negligent if it’s proven they were serving alcohol to an obviously intoxicated person.

Semi-Truck Driver Causes Three Deaths by Making an Illegal U-Turn

Richard Williams, a truck driver out of Brooklyn is being held on $100,000 bail after being charged with three counts of death by auto. According to police, Williams was attempting to make an illegal U-turn when a Tahoe slammed into the side of the truck becoming lodged underneath.

The driver, Shaqwan Tisdale and his stepdaughter, Mellady Durante survived the crash. Tisdale’s wife, Jamella Tisdale, son, Jaden Tisdale and stepson, Jaevon Durante all died in crash. It took crews several hours to cut away pieces of the car to free the survivors. While the crews worked, they hung curtains so people could not take pictures of the truck accident scene.

New Jersey Turnpike Closes for Two Accidents in One Week

The New Jersey Turnpike was closed for five hours while crews attempted to clean up the second truck accident of the week. This accident involved a dump truck and tractor-trailer.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they found a jackknifed tractor-trailer (meaning the tractor or cab was contacting the trailer at a 45-degree angle) and a dump truck that appeared to have been pushed of the road into the woods below.

The dump truck driver was airlifted from scene and taken to Cooper University Medical Center for injuries that were deemed non-life threatening.

The accident that occurred earlier in the week involved a tractor-trailer that overturned and caught fire. A cause had not immediately been released.

Lynette’s says it will work with partner services to assist their customers while it works to meet all of the compliance standards listed by the government.

The community knows this company very well. In their vehicles, ranging from party buses to antique vehicles, they bring kids to prom and brides to weddings. The business will not be able to operate until in meets all the compliances listed in the lengthy 17-page report.

Seven Children Injured in School Bus Accident

A May 14 school bus accident in Burlington Township sent seven children to the hospital. The accident occurred after the bus collided with another vehicle. The children’s injuries were not considered serious, although the bus driver suffered moderate injuries. The accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued.

Officials Investigate Turnpike Truck Accident

Officials are still investigating a June 17 truck accident on the New Jersey Turnpike involving a tractor-trailer and a van. The driver of the van was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Family of Six Lucky to Survive New Jersey Truck Accident

The Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) has honored truck driver Nathan Wick as its top driver of the year for 2012. Wick was selected due to his track record for safety. He has logged over 25,000 hours behind the wheel and covered more than a million miles without a single truck accident. So what is his secret?

                “Distracted driving is the number one thing,” said Wick. “You’ve got to keep your eyes on the road, put any electronic device aside.”
