So many eyes and arms! But it wasnât scary the way Malachiteâs reflection had been. It wasâŠpretty, in the way that the fusion statues always were at the Sea Spires. She was prettyâŠ
âSorry!â Sheâd been starring so long, she hadnât even noticed she was next in line. She tore her eyes up to look at the menu, but she had no idea where to start.
âUhâŠwhat would you recommendâŠto someone whoâs never really eaten before?âÂ
She giggled at the others aplogy. Muffet was just a moment away from letting them know that she was next in line, but at least they figured that out on their own. âGood afternoon to you too, dear. Please, thereâs no rush though!â
Now that was an odd request to her. How does one... not eat before? She cocked her head to the side in curiosity, half tempted to ask, but that might be a bit out of line. At least for the employee of a bakery to ask.
âWell... I canât say Iâve had to think about that before. But I think it might be best to start simple, with a basic cake or cupcake?â she said, though she wasnât the most confident in that suggestion. âHave you had anything to eat before, or are you starting with sweets?â
Childish admiration [Muffet + Nina]
dragonwithamaidenheart:
A fantastical tale? Nina tilted her head to the side, red yes looking right up as she thought of that. She had lived in that world her whole life, being a half-dragon and meeting cool bounty hunters was normal day to day life for her. Well, at least her new friend said she believe in her! Which made Nina grin once more.
âThere was a really cool Bounty Hunter that came to our village once and told us about his adventures. He would travel the world doing fun stuff, of course Iâd want to be just like himâ she grinned happily, her explanation as general and kind of strange as everything else she said âOh, a person is no problem! Back then I could carry boulders that were double or triple my size too! But then I came here and I canât do that anymore. I wonder if things are heavier hereâŠâ
Well, no point in wondering things you canât know! More important than that, she was now curious about Muffetâs world. Since it seemed to be fairly different to her own.
âSay, say Muffet!â she said, swinging their connected hands childishly âHow was the world were you lived?â
Travelling the world doing fun stuff... could hunting down and capturing, or potentially killing, fugitives really be thought of as fun? It sounded like a lot of work for little pay, to be honest, with no guarantee youâd come back safely. But if that was Ninaâs idea of fun, who was she to argue?
âI do hope one day youâll be able to become like him. You seem very content with that goal, it sounds like. But... boulders? Really? Thatâs...â Her tone wasnât that of disbelief. Rather, she trailed off simply because she was trying to imagine Nina carrying a boulder on her back. Quite a mental image. â...impressive, to say the least. I feel like you could do a lot more than just general construction work with that strength.â
Muffet added a little bit of her own strength into the swinging of their arms, finding Ninaâs excitement endearing. âWell... my world was a lot smaller than yours, I would assume. At least, the parts where I was allowed to go. It was entirely underground, and filled with all sorts of different monsters.â From regular frogs to talking planes and volcanoes. Very normal to Muffet, maybe not so much to others.
âMyself, I was rather unique there, actually~... but then again, so were a lot of others.â
Childish admiration [Muffet + Nina]
dragonwithamaidenheart:
âYeaaah! Iâm so ready to go! Thanks for having me, Muffet!â Nina ended up actually jumping as she heard the words of her new friend, inviting her over to her place! To the cute spiders and the baked sweets! It would maybe be the first time she went to the house of a friend -excluding those back at the dragon village since they were more like family anyway. There was so much to look forward to!
Seeing the hand being offered for her to hold, Nina reached forward without a second of doubt, squeezing just a bit at her friends fingers. She was a bit colder than expected, but it might be because of Ninaâs own rather high temperature.
âWell, I come from a tiny little village by the ends of the world. I always wanted to be a Bounty Hunter so i left my village and went to Anatae to make a living there!â she explained with a wide smile, skipping just a bit as she was too happy to just walk âBut would you believe? There was no bounties to catch when I got there! Only one called the Rag Demon but that happened to be Azazel⊠it was awkward. Anyway, I was living with Baccus and his talking duck in the meantime, and just working in construction around the city! Iâm pretty strong and all!â
Nina was so... peppy it was almost something to be admired by Muffet. She was altogether much more reserved in how she showed her emotions, but a lot of the time that wasnât a positive thing to her. She wished she could feel that comfortable around others! Strangers especially; which Nina still somewhat was.
Her hand gladly accepted, Muffet started her walking again, this time with Nina by her side. She listened carefully to Ninaâs words, trying to make sense of it. Which was surprisingly more difficult than she expected it to be.
âThat sounds like quite a fantastical tale... but by no means am I saying I donât believe you. A bounty hunter, though? It seems like such an odd job to wish to have.â Muffet wondered what kinds of people (or other things) Nina would have to fight. Muffetâs own world was filled with a wide variety of creatures, but she knew nothing of the world Nina came from.
âI wouldnât doubt your strength for a minute. Are you strong enough to lift a grown person, per chance?â Just trying to get a gauge of her strength, is all.

Generated Word: Diamond
While Muffet might at first seem the type to like expensive jewelry like diamond rings and earrings and gold necklaces and such... she doesnât like them because she thinks itâs too flashy. She prefers, if anything, simple bracelets and charm necklaces, leaving the expensive diamond, gold, and silver jewelry to the other rich folks.
â
Generated Word: Death
Muffet has a slight fear of death. The dying part isnât so bad; you just turn to dust and it probably wonât be very painful. Sheâs more terrified of what comes after dying. The lack of consciousness, emotions, thoughts, the entire loss of being. She doesnât like to think about it at all.

Childish admiration [Muffet + Nina]
dragonwithamaidenheart:
Nina smiled wide at the comment. She wouldnât expect any less from spiders, they are as powerful as they are cute after all! But more than that, she was feeling just a bit giddy about being called cute by such a cute lady. In fact, you might have seen the slightest taint of red in her soft cheeks.
âRight now? Really?â her smile only widened at the proposition, and she found herself unable to stay put, vibrating in place as she tried not to just start jumping right away âOf course Iâm down for it! Eat pastries and meet cute spiders sounds like an ideal time! If you donât mind me going right now Iâd love to!â
It sounded like a dream experience to be honest. She was having a hard time believing she had actually managed to get a friend who was a pretty spider, knew how to bake and had lots of spiders in her room! This is the kind of adventures Nina liked.
Muffet did notice the red tinge in Ninaâs cheeks, and it only made her look all the cuter in Muffetâs eyes. All five of them, to be exact. Ninaâs happiness was proving to be more than a bit infectious, Muffet herself feeling happier today just thanks to this so-far-small interaction.
âYes really, right now. I donât mind in the slightestâthe opposite, reallyâand I was just headed that way anyway. The least I could do is invite you to tag along, right...?â Muffet would just be alone anyway, and while she never minded that... sheâs also not known anyone who she thinks sheâd enjoy the company of yet.
âWe can walk there together, and on the way you could tell me about yourself...? Iâm very interested to know more about you.â Muffet offered Nina a hand to take while they walked together. âOr I could tell you about me?â
Childish admiration [Muffet + Nina]
dragonwithamaidenheart:
Nina continued to nod enthusiastically as she heard the other talking about baking. It seemed like she did loved it! And after having her say she had a lot of pride in it, the pink haired girl couldnât help but want to try something she had baked in the close future.
âI wouldnât think of interrupting your work! But I do want to try out something you have made! And if you ever need some help, whether is carrying heavy stuff or doing some announcing, Iâm yer gal~â she said, lifting her arms in a show-offish way, biceps becoming rather noticeable as she did so.
She smiled wide as she heard her name being said by the other, hands going down to rest on her hips while she have one strong nod of confirmation. It felt much friendlier if they both addressed each other by their names after all!
âYou are passionate about your job, I could hear you talk about that for hours honestlyâŠâ wait, had she just said she had⊠âYou have spiders on your room?!â her eyes were sparkling again. Consider her very much interested âCan i go? Maybe? Someday? Pretty pleasseee? I promise to be a good guest! I wonât be too loud or anything, come one Muffet~â
Muffet would never turn down an opportunity to bake something for someone. She didnât even need to do it at work; she baked at home almost as often as she did at the bakery anyway!
âIâm stronger than I may look, you know. But youâre enthusiasm is very cute, I will give you that.â Muffet cleared her throat quietly, twiddling a couple of her fingers on her lower pair of hands together. With as seemingly easy-going and confident Nina was, it was hard for Muffet to not start to warm up to her, and feel more comfortable as a result in the conversation. Her smile relaxed, and her eyes were no longer fretting over which direction to look.
âI think I still have some leftover pastries Iâve baked back at my hotel room...I wouldnât mind if you wanted to come over and try them. I could introduce you to my spiders, too. But there are a lot of them, I will warn you...â They were as drawn to her as she was to them. Her hotel room is an arachnophobes worst nightmare.
âUnless you were busy now, and wanted to plan for another time...?â
Childish admiration [Muffet + Nina]
dragonwithamaidenheart:
Nina nodded enthusiastically as the spider lady talked, eyes full of stars at how amazing this whole situation was. Then she heard the magic word, and was back into a rush of energy. Stepping on the very tip of her toes, Nina looked up at the other with a wide smile. Her eyes were kind of cute looking around like that~
âOoohhh you work at a bakery? You must be so good at it! I have confidence in my effectivity when cooking but I couldnât compete against 6 arms and 5 eyes! Iâd love to go sometime, can I go, can I go?â she was a child, and she was all too excited to try and act like an adult, just ready to jump around happily.
âMuffet! Gotcha! You can call me Nina too! No need for a Miss or a Drango!â she said in a confident and cheerful tone âMn? I donât know what you mean! You are great! Letâs be friends!â
Muffet nodded, the chance to talk about baking for a moment temporarily easing some of her anxieties and making it a tad easier to speak. âI do work at a bakery! Baking has been my biggest passion since... well, since about as long as I can remember, actually~... I take a lot of pride in it.â An understatement, if anything. âYouâre free to stop by sometime, but if Iâm currently working I canât particularly stop to chat...â
âNina it is, then. A pleasure to meet you then, Nina.â Emphasis on her name, just to try it out. Then Muffet looked a bit bewildered. Friends? Do people usually straight up ask to be friends like that? She thought it just sorta... happened over time.
Maybe thatâs why she didnât currently have any friends.
âIâDonât get me wrong, I would love to have a... to be friends, but I donât exactly do much outside of work, actually...â she admitted, her mouth forming an awkward lopsided smile, âI usually just spend time in my room with my spiders...â
Childish admiration [Muffet + Nina]
dragonwithamaidenheart:
Nina was very glad the pretty spider lady had turned around to talk to her. She was so much prettier when looking her from this close, so much she couldnât stay put, now standing on her toes and then on her heels, eyes sparkling all the while.
âReally? No way! Itâs not weird at all, it looks suuuper nice! And it must be very useful too Iâm sure! Like, like! You could pour yourself some tea while you karate chop someone!â she probably definitely sounded -and looked- like a little kid right now, making exaggerate movements with her arms to demonstrate her points.
âIf I had that many arms I could carry like, so many stuff at the same time!â she added with a bright smile before remembering something important âOh, but I havenât introduced myself, right? Iâm Nina! Nina Drango! Whatâs your name pretty spider lady?â
Muffet felt a bit nervous under the girlâs admiring gaze, her top three eyes switching between steady eye contact, avoiding it, and back again. One hand reached up to shyly rub the back of her neck, another fiddling with the bow on her shirt.
âT-They have their uses, for sure... Iâve never had to eh, karate chop someone like that before,â referring to the girlâs energetic karate mimicry, âand I donât think I ever will.. but I am very efficient at pouring drinks. And delivering food, which comes in handy at the bakery.â Pun unintended.
And there that was againâ âpretty spider girl.â She tried to lower her head to hide her increasing blush before realizing how pointless an effort that was, given her height. âItâs a pleasure to meet you, Miss Drango. Muffet is my name. Just Muffet. I apologize, Iâm... much better at this when Iâm at work.â

dragonwithamaidenheart:
@spidelightâ liked for a starter!
You know whatâs real neat? Spiders. You know whatâs also super cute? Spiders. With her hometown being a dragon village in the middle of the forest, he had always enjoyed the contact with nature and the interaction with all sort of animals. Spiders had always been something she found fascinating and adorable at the same time.
So it was just inevitable that she had starry eyes when she saw the spider-like girl right in front of her. She was so pretty! So cool! All those arms!
âHey, hey!â she called out with a childish grin âAre you a spider? Thatâs so cool! You have so many arms! I wish I had as many! And you are so pretty too!â
For a moment, she almost didnât turn around to the girl behind her, because why would anyone be calling out to her? But still, something in her own mind convinced her too, and thankfully that little bit of intuition paid off without making her look silly. How embarrassing it would have been if it turned out she wasnât the person they wanted.
But she might have looked silly anyway, with her cheeks tinging a darker shade of purple (how fitting, for her blush to match her purple skin so well) at the compliments.
âSo pretty...?â Her smile grew when she repeated it, and she couldnât stop her soft giggle. âThank you, very much..! I havenât been often told that itâs cool to be a spider, I have to say...â she said, shifting her weight from one foot to the other a bit awkwardly, âbut I like hearing it. It makes me feel less weird here for having as many arms as I do.â
theysayimevil:
Ooookay. Mal wasnât used to such a warm greeting. She looked for an angle, for something that might tell her that the spider girl was attempting to play at something but her warmth was oddly sincere. It was grating.
âPoisonous or venomous, at least you have the means to deal damage.â What Mal had intended to be a stab at the other had instead turned around and brought a streak of jealousy to her voice. She uncrossed her arms and set her hands on her hips as she shifted her weight. She regarded the other still, her mind ever working to twist situations to her advantage.
âHow venomous are you?â
Her venom may very well be a means to deal damage, but that would require getting close to someone. No, she much preferred to stay at a distance, if she had to fight at all. Now that she thinks about it, sheâs never had the chance to test out her bite on a human.
Though she doesnât really want to harm anybody... the thought was enticing.
âWellllll....â
A hand raised to nonchalantly rub at her neck as she considered her answer.
âI imagine Iâm venomous enough to hurt, at least... but if you really wanted to know, I could bite you right now and we would both find out.â She finished off her sentence with a wide, fang-bearing smile.

She was used to different. In fact, not only was she used to it she welcomed different with opened arms. Well, an opened mind anyway. Everything from her origin story to her friends was different, however this was beyond weird. Usually Beast Boy was the one surrounded by animalsâsometimes it was even Starâbut this time the black birds seemed to be following her every move. Exasperated by her new shadows, Raven sighed. âAny chance all these guys are yours?â
Muffet couldnât lie to herself; the sight of a flock of birds following the one walking in front of her was adorable, in some ways. The exasperated sigh was just the icing on the cake.
âIâm afraid notâ I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. Iâd sooner eat them as a snack than have them follow me around.â She could probably stomach one or two, at least.
âBut if you ask me, I think they suit you rather well.â
Itâs impolite to stare. ||
ajenoposada:
What could possibly make this whole experience any weirder? Rhetorical question, the answer is a small spider looking lady standing in line in front of Vito. While his first instinct was to reach out and touch this person to see if her limbs were actually real, Vito had just enough sense to stop himself. However, his sense didnât reach far enough to stop him from staring, and staring a lot. Was it rude? Yes, it was very rude, but to Vito, all he was watching so intently for was to see if she was going to disappear anytime soonâŠ
@spidelight â â„
Muffet wanted nothing more for this line to move just a little bit faster, please. Seriously, come on. She didnât intend for this seemingly quick errand to take up so much of her time. She turned her head when she went to dig around in her purse hanging off her shoulder for her to-do list, and noticed the person behind her focusing intently on her in her peripheral.
She paused, turning her head just a bit more to confirm that, yes, this person was staring at her. She turned enough to look at them now, one of her bottom hands reaching up to her hair.
âDo I have something in my hair...?â
theysayimevil:
@spidelight - âiked for a starter ( step into my parlor, said the dark fae to the spider )
It was bad enough these incredibly cute sheep waddled around everywhere, one had even been in her room and now her own magic had been stripped. Again. How was she supposed to inherit her powers and harness what her mother had tried to teach her. The place was the worst. Or maybe not.
Mal eagerly approached the spider looking girl. She wasnât one to express too much, anything less than absolute abhorrence wasnât approved of back on the Isle of the Lost, but few things were as interesting as this girl relaxing so casually. Mal tried to stand as straight as she could, tried to pull all her height into her stance. Her arms folded over her chest as she jutted a hip and regarded the other cooly, barely giving a glance.
âIf youâre not poisonous, someone really gave you a bad deal.â
Muffet raised a glance at the girl as she approached, offering a smile to greet her as she seemingly didnât mind that her relaxation was about to be interrupted. As it was quite a bit whenever she wasnât working. You didnât see her going around to all the humans everywhere and pointing out their lack of limbs and eyes, did you? No! Regardless...
It was amusing to Muffet, watching the other straighten their posture. For all the height they tried to add to themselves... they still came out a good deal shorter than her. Despite the others disregarding stance, Muffet still smiled at her warmly.
âIâm not poisonous, no. But I am venomous. Which, personally, I find a bit more useful... wouldnât you?â
splatteredking:

â â â :Â âwah! youâre a spider! but less scary because youâre kind of like a human! actually, youâre really confusing! but confusing makes you a work of art, you know? you should let me paint you!â starting off real strong in stella city.
She honestly wasnât sure which part of that to respond to first. They almost went through the entire emotional spectrum in the matter of a few sentences.
âIf Iâm already a work of art, why would I need to be painted in the first place? Besides, I donât think paint would do kind things to my skin...â
