Atelier AU with Will and Strohl

I realized I haven't posted this silly AU idea here on Tumblr.

Will is an alchemist running an atelier. He is rather lonely and decides to put in a request to a mercenary guild.

The catch, assist Will at the atelier for one whole year. This includes going outside and sourcing materials for alchemy. Be Will's bodyguard.

Will believed no one will take him seriously and the contract would get torn up.

However, one mercenary takes up the job. That person is Strohl.

Strohl arrives one morning and is very confused about his assignment.

I put together some art showing some of the concepts.

-Will at his cauldron. He has to stand on a stepladder to reach it.

-Showing the outfits. Will has long gloves and boots with star motifs. Strohl gets a ruffly blouse and a shawl.

-The isometric room was me just goofing around and seeing if I can miniaturize Will and Strohl. The 8x8 scale came out better than I thought it would.

-The animation is Will mixing the cauldron and the contents bubbling and blowing up.

Four Hedgehogs and a Tenrec

Some of my OCs, new and old, that I plan on doing little projects with.

From left to right: Poke, Flan, Custard, Cinnamon, and Crema.

Poke: Merchant and nomad. He sets up shops all over the place to sell and trade goods. Based on an Algerian black hedgehog.

Flan: She's the owner of the Prickly Potato Inn. Based on a Long Eared Hedgehog.

Custard: Upon closer inspection that isn't a hedgehog. They are employed at the inn as the waiter. Species is a Highland Streaked Tenrec.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is an African Pygmy Hedgehog with a cinnacot coloring and ruby eyes. He runs the kitchen as the head chef.

Crema: They have a pinto pattern, split markings, and split coloring for their ears. Crema is a barista who has a passion for mixology.

Strowill Shimeji

Been playing around with my Strowill Shimeji set. So this is a chaotic image set. I love the scaling you can do with Shimeji. Though I found 2x scaling to be the best. The largest sprites are scaled at 8x.

They can climb, grab/throw windows (If you permit them to), crawl, sit, run, leap, and clone themselves.

I also added the code for affordances. Where one broadcasts, indicated by a little heart, and the other hunts. When Strohl and Will come together with heart icons, they hug.

Going to be passing out Strowill themed ribbon badges at Dragon Con this year. Featuring my pixel art.

I'm so happy the print came out well.

The colors are more vibrant in person. Closer to the colors of the art I post.

Been messing around with little Strowill animations again.

Two hedgehogs and a tenrec. From left to right: Poke, Flan, and Custard. I am expanding my hedgie/tenrec universe for Art Fight. Since Poke was created a almost a year ago.

Poke: Merchant - He is based on a Algerian Black Hedgehog.

Flan: Inkeeper - She is based on a Long Eared Hedgehog.

Custard: Waiter: They are based on a Highland Streaked Tenrec.

Here's a teaser of a few unfinished animations I have been working on.

-Finding an egg.

-Beast walk.

-Will zipping by on his sword.

Nixie (Strowill Kid OC)

Was a little nervous posting my OC of a kid I came up with for Will and Strohl. But here I am.

His name is Nixie and I do adore him.

Nixie Lore under the cut.

-Will and Strohl find a forbidden book filled with ancient text on birth.

-While flipping through the pages a spell is cast. A light shoots over towards a lake.

-Will and Strohl follow the light and find a large shell on the lake shore. After they touch the shell it opens, revealing a baby boy.

-Due to the baby being born from ancient texts, and lake magic, he is cursed to have fish features.

-He part elda and clemar as well as he took on his parents' genetics in a way.

-Nixie's clemar horns are purple.

-Those fish features are fish ears, fish tail, and gills.

-His gills open up on his neck when he is in or under the water. The gills close up on land.

-Nonetheless they adopt the baby and name him Nixie.

-They raise Nixie near the lake and have a cozy lake house there.

-One of Nixie's outfits are a black, long sleeve button up, a teal vest, purple pants, and brown shoes.

Wanted to do a silly and simple animation of Strohl taking off and putting on his jacket. It is a good base for future animations.

Got the Will and Strohl perfumes. They smell delightful. Like a field of flowers.

Could you speed up your animations a bit? They look very choppy otherwise.

Hello, I appreciate the feedback.

I do prefer to have my animation speed where it is as it's my stylistic choice.

It can also look choppy when slow because l don't have too many in-between sprites when animating.

Will and Strohl Climbing and Swinging

I've always been fascinated by Shimejis. The little desktop pets that came out in the late 2000's. I remember downloading them and watching them move about.

Now that I got into pixel art I decided I would put some work towards a Will and Strohl one. Or two separate ones but it includes both. These are just animations I did in Aseprite after doing a lot of sprite work that took hours.

Still a lot of work for a full set. Then there's programming the Shimeji and that is a different beast. But I am excited.
