Before you can start, you need to confirm that your hosting account supports SSL. A retailer will need to sell you an SSL certificate. While there are many SSL certificates available, most people can handle the basic one. After you have purchased your certificate, you will need it to be installed on your server.
There are many ways to install SSL on your server, depending on what software you use. This article will cover installing SSL via cPanel. CPanel, a web-based administration tool provided by many hosting companies, is used to set up and manage a website or web page.
Private keys
First, create a private secret key. A private key is a string that allows a computer to decode or encode encrypted messages it receives. You must use the private key file with the SSL certificate that it was created. This private key file is confidential and should not be shared. If a private key file is lost, there is no way to retrieve it.
Log in to your control panel cPanel. The information was provided by your hosting company.
In the security window, click on SSL/TLS Manager Icon.
Scroll down to the bottom and choose the domain you wish the SSL to be installed on.
Choose the right key size. The more secure the key, the better.
Click Generate to generate your new key, and then click "Return To SSL Manager".

You now have all certificates and you can install them on your cPanel account. For easy access, copy the certificates from your retailer as well as the key that you generated at the start into a wordpad document.
