Something To Appreciate From Castle 8x12

Maybe more than one thing, we’ll see as I start typing this. I’m all of 3 sips into my coffee, so you might be in for a rambly mess, who knows.

“I won’t choose.”

Obviously we knew Beckett wasn’t going to say, “Eh, go ahead and shoot him,” but I love love love love the fact that she didn’t offer up herself either. There was no “spare him, shoot me,” no “I’ll be the hero here.” It was just her standing at Castle’s side, united with him, both of them living or nothing. And I think that moment’s really interesting, because we know she wouldn’t hesitate to jump in front of him if necessary, we know she absolutely prioritizes his life and his well-being over her own - and he knows it, too, and would obviously do the same for her because he has half a dozen times or more - but last night we also saw her not jumping to that as the first resort.

It’s not LokSat related, but she still didn’t go lone-wolf, throwing herself at the danger, and I thought that was a really subtle, but really important thing.
