Kickstarter for my new art book is now live!
Eons ago when the earth and sky were still as one, a haughty sphinx thought to clothe herself in stars. Using her strong paws and sharp claws she prised up a dozen dozen stars from the dome of the sky, until a glowing pile of jewels lay at her feet.
Each star was flattened with a golden hammer and trimmed with silver shears, then sewn with invisible spiders thread so that when all was pieced together, the sphinx lounged gracefully in a skin of shimmering diamonds.
The stars were not pleased, for though they are not alive in a way that is understood by those bound to earth, tearing a star from its peaceful heights ends what they call life. Those stars remaining in the sky had been helpless to stop the pillaging of their sisters, but after a meeting of the council of elders they devised a plan, and as one began to heave at the sky until it was torn from the horizon.
The sphinx, draped in her glittering raiment, did not notice the rebellion of the sky until a final thundering scream between heaven and earth ripped the wings from her back. Now, somewhere out there, a sphinx lives solely on the ground, and the stars remain coldly out of reach.

Paperdoll on top of watercolor illustration
Its been a while since I was this enthusiastic over a piece and in which I didn't procrastinate. I wanted to design the doll initially traditionally but decided against it since. It would be wayy too complicated, especially to get the parts to work together. So I decided on digital art, I learned a lot! but painting it was a struggle 😭 But I'm really happy with how it turned out hehe on to the next one I guess
Also you can download this doll on my ☕️ shop, its FREE!
