Uhhhh so I got inspired by the milex jacket sharing (and @freakykeypad’s post about writing poetry about it and shit) and wrote this poem about them because they have taken over my life (I should be revising goddammit)
A Study In Sharing
i’m wearing the brown leather jacket
that you bought me for christmas
the vestiges of your cologne
still cling to the collar
from when you last owned it
and saturates me with warmth and love
now that I think about it
you probably bought it for us
my camera lens is your biggest fan
captivated by the
shadows caught in the soft folds of your eyes
when you light your smile at me
and in the wrinkles of my brown leather jacket
it’s times like these when I feel like we inhabit
the crease where two oceans meet
our fluid spirits dancing and intertwining in an
everlasting pas-de-deux of life
we share costumes
that don’t fit either of our bodies
but my heart swells to fill the vacant space
where your arms and shoulders and
chest used to be
and beats twice as fast in your absence
under your brown leather jacket
what was once mine is now ours
even when the whole world separates us
and life pulls us apart at the seams
i cradle your shape and your scent
but at the end of it all
in the quiet moments tucked away together
in the eye of the storm
it’s always been you and me
our growing love
and our brown leather jacket
