Fun fact: when I was first writing out a bio for Jei (before I really knew what I was doing with him), my original summary of him was

"A boy from America who doesn't speak Japanese very well. He has a weakness for cute things. He just started T so his voice is changing a lot lately. He's kind of embarrassed about it, even though he doesn't mind people knowing he's transitioning. He's still not sure about his gender but he feels much more comfortable on the masculine side."

The figure that stood above Rei's head looked familiar. It looked like Jei... but he was dead. It must be a dream or Jei's spirit come back to haunt him, he supopsed.

It gently touched Rei's cheek with an ethereal palm, far too cold to be anything living, and looked down at the dove lying awake in his bed with a melancholic smile.

"I saw... you and friends," it sighed. "I want... Murasakibara-senpai being always that happy. Was not your fault, so." Stepping away from the bird and closing its eyes in a peaceful smile, it said, "Hard for me to say all I want, I writed for you. But I go now." It was fading, its limbs disappearing before Rei's eyes. "Good bye, Mura... Rei. Goodbye, one I love."

In the morning, a note written in English sat on the floor by the door, carefully written in a thrush's rough handwriting.

although i'm assuming being a ghost doesn't give him the power to translate his English thoughts into Japanese (although maybe it's okay if murasakibara-senpai doesn't understand it all)  or even appear to the living since he's not really like nageki

rei goes back to sleep and wakes up thinking it was a dream
