âWhen I was a kid, I asked my grandpa once if he ever killed any Germans in the war. He wouldnât answer. He said that was grown-up stuff. So I asked if the Germans ever tried to kill him. But he got real quiet. He said he was dead the minute he stepped in to enemy territory. Every day he woke up and told himself, rest in peace. Now get up and go to war. And then after a few years of pretending he was dead, he made it out alive. Thatâs the trick of it, I think. We do what we need to do and then, we get to live. But no matter what we find in DC, I know weâll be okay. Because this is how we survive. We tell ourselvesâŠthat we are the walking dead.â

An Ode to Roddy White
As a Falconâs fan myself, Iâm having very mixed feelings regarding the news that Roddy White is being released after 11 seasons at the Georgia Dome.Â
Firstly, I think we should all pay tribute to Roddy for what he has done for our franchise.  Heâs our all-time leading receiver, heâs been a leader for our team for over a decade, heâs helped to develop Julio Jones and heâs been a stalwart for Matt Ryan over his career. White embodies what being a Falcon is all about and itâs exceptionally sad to see him go. Iâd like to see him retire as I wouldn't like to see him play against us, but thatâs a decision for Roddy and I believe he can still play in the NFL for a few more seasons. Whatever decision he makes, I wish him the best in his future endeavours.
As with my post yesterday about Peyton Manning, the numbers with Roddy donât lie. His production has steadily decreased over the last few years and he isnât the reliable playmaker he once was. He hasn't played 16 games since 2012 and he was targetted 69 times this season, the lowest since 2007. The NFL is ultimately a business, and weâve reached a point where Roddy just doesnt help the Falcons win games anymore; a startling but sad reality of the NFL.Â
Atlanta desperately needed wideout help last season to compliment Julio, but it didnât come in the form of Roddy White. It was time to move on.
Roddy, thanks for everything! Youâre a true gentleman and will always have a fond place in my memory as one of the best players to every put on the Dirty Bird uniform. Best of luck going forward #RiseUp
