My Findings 7 (Other kin):

Wow!! I didn’t expect receiving as much information as I did from my last update! Thank you to everyone who was willing to help me out!

I ended up receiving some very similar information and some very different information. Though from what I have gathered (so far) this community has many (and I mean a lot which is not necessarily bad!) aspects. But I have also just learned that this community has been around for a long time. I found that very interesting. Also, I have learned that this community isn’t just on Tumblr. And not only that but what they may seem to be on Tumblr is just a small portion of what the community really is. From what I have so far been given I have learned that this community is also made of various religious beliefs. Though with all of this new information I am left with wanting to find out more. Again I am not doing this to disrespect the community in anyway. I am honestly just fascinated and I wanted to upload my findings. With that being said I will try to update soon loves💕

My findings 6 (Other kin/kintype):

I am so confused. I am having trouble understanding this kin thing because of all of this different information. I am hearing you can only have one kin type but others have around 6. I am hearing some people have a main kin type and some of their types are just kinda on the side?? I am also hearing some people think this kin type stuff is complete bs. I would really like to hear people’s opinions on this stuff because frankly, I am bamboozeled. Anyways except a part 7 once I start making some sense out of this.

Hi hello ! I’m otherkin and, looking at your blog, you seem to genuinely want to understand us, so here’s some basic facts about what this whole kin thing is about :

- Otherkin are people who believe their soul/mind isn’t human. An otherkin person might say “I am a wolf”, and what they mean by that is that they’ve got a wolf soul/mind (they’re a wolf trapped in a human body, if you will)

- Otherkin people can identify as anything, from earthly animals (in which case we would call them “therianthropes”, or “therians” for short) to dragons, angels, and even fictional characters.

- The otherkin community is very diverse, not everyone in it is religious or even spiritual. Everyone has a different explanation for their non-humanity, though a belief in past lives is usually pretty common.

- A lot of people hate on the community, basically thinking we’re “just tumblr kids trying to be special”. The community is much older than this site, and I’d advise looking into it outside of Tumblr since there’s a LOT of misinformation about us here. Here’s a link to @anti-kin-cringe‘s ressource post if you don’t know where to start.

If you got any questions, or if you don’t understand some of the things I’m saying (I’m not a native english speaker and I sometimes get lost in translation), know that my ask box is always open !

I can add a data point about the community’s age. I’ve been a bear since the early 80s and was one of the several dozen or so who participated in the formation of the online therian community in the early 90s. I know many who aren’t involved online at all. Tumblr is a tiny part of the therian /otherkin community.

You’re not an angel, demon, fallen angel, dragon, god/goddess, animal, infant, some random internet celebrity, and you’re most certainly not a fictional character.

You’re a human being.

You aren’t something else because you relate to something or are interested in something, you’re still you.

If you like something and you like it’s aesthetic, cool! But you’re not that. You’re you.

And having “Memories” or something of your life as that thing isn’t real, it’s just your own creative fantasies.

You’re allowed to like things and appreciate them, but acting like you’re somehow connected to them spiritually is idiotic.

My Findings 4 (kintype):

I am finding very strong opinions on this kin topic. I find it quite interesting. Some people say they are this kin. Others are calling bull shit. Interesting.....

I think it was cool to find someone with a view that doesn’t support or believe in this whole kin belief. I want all the information to be presented.

I don’t particularly have any view in relation to this kintype thing. I am going to stay in the middle.

My Findings 3 (kintype):

The puzzle is starting to slowly look like a picture. Things are beginning to become more clear for me. So people with kins are the kin? This person from what it sounds, has a wolf kin. But they are one with the kin. Can they feel this kin? How do they know they have a kin? I must find answers

• hunch over your shoulders when you’re scared

• cocoon around your upper body when you’re cold or needing some snuggling

• fan out in a nice big stretch when you first wake up, trying to touch the ceiling or wall

• raise over your head like an umbrella when it’s raining to keep you dry

• settle on your back when you’re relaxed

• spread to reveal all those soft downy feathers when you’re with someone you love and trust

• fluff up to twice your size when you’re angry

• do some panicky FLAP FLAP FLAP when you lose your balance

• stretch out like you’re flying as soon as you get faster than 40 mph

• hang off the side of the bed when you’re sleeping because they’re just too big

My findings 2 (kintype):

I said I would update. And I just did. At first when I skimmed this writing I believed it was about angels such as my last finding. But now I believe I could be wrong. The title does not say “about angels” or anyone in fact. It just states it is about wings. Does that mean there can be bird kins? Or duck kins? Not just angel or demon? I have wondered about maybe dragons the last time I posted but this. This could be many difrent things. Personally I think a dragonfly kin would be a very interesting one but I will have to wait and see. I am now more intrigued then I was last time. I need to find answers to my ‘kin questions’ if we must.

Finding 1 (Kintype):

I have just come across a page that started with My angel. I quickly became intrigued. I (totally may be wrong so heads up loves) believe this person is trying to find maybe their angel? Or inner angel? Maybe Guardian Angel? I am not sure. I am wanting to find out. I will update you once I think I might have grasped a new understanding. But for now I must fall back into the void of tumblr. I will update soon.
