“Because being happy all the time is unsettling as fuck. No one is happy all the time and if they say they are then they are lying.” Maria spat at him angrily, though she had stopped struggling for the most part. She wasn’t built for strength and she couldn’t break free of them.
“Oh, but, I’m not lying. Everyone in Desert Bluffs is happy all the time! Every second of every day! If we weren’t, we wouldn’t be able to get anything done because no one would be productive!” Kevin said with a look of almost disbelief, but the painfully wide smile was still there. The tentacles lifted her up and set her, none too gently, in Cecil’s broadcasting chair. “How is being happy all the time unsettling?”
“Happiness and productivity have no coloration at all. What kind of Kool-Aid have you been given to think that constantly being happy is the correct state of human existence? People are miserable and angry and all manner of emotions, that’s what makes us people” She said before yelping as she was lifted up and more or less tossed into the chair, knocking a bit of the wind out of her.Â
“Now what are you going to do to me?”
"Happiness and productivity go hand-in-hand! Why do you think everyone who works under Strex Corp is so happy all the time? We're doing our best and making sure we're as productive as possible for our parent company." He chuckled. "You people with your silly emotions. Don't worry, you'll know true happiness soon." Kevin tilted his head. "I'm not going to do anything to you. Yet."
