OOC: It’s been a while, hasn’t it? 

I’m 100% sure this blog is rather irrelevant now, but to those who have been wondering: yes, I’ve been incredibly busy. Many things have happened in the last 9 months, and while some of that involved stuff from a different fandom and I thought I’d be able to maintain my Coraline blog, the result simply faded into this: I’ve grown quite disenchanted with tumblr rp. 

Make no mistake, I still love my muses immensely. I still rp them on other platforms, or write drabbles. But the thought of coming on to tumblr to do drafts seems...mmm. Redundant. Unappealing. 

That’s nothing anyone here did, though, and I’m so sorry to disappoint anyone who was hoping for my return! But as it stands, I’m afraid Coraline, and all of my other blogs, will be on indefinite hiatus. Perhaps one day I’ll come back, but only time will tell. I’m moving. I’ve been accepted to grad school. There’s a lot on my plate. 

But thank you to each and every one of you who made my experience here worth while. I love you all very much, and wish you the best of luck ♥

                           with regards to this post from last night

      NIGHTMARES WERE TO BE EXPECTED AFTER THE EVENTS OF THE OTHER WORLD. Coraline had been brave throughout her adventures, but that’s the thing about bravery; one must be SCARED OUT OF THEIR WITS first. It was only when one stood in the face of fear and continued anyways that they could be counted BRAVE ( to use Coraline’s infamous line from the book, “When you’re scared but you still do it anyway, that’s brave.” ). And so, it wasn’t as though Coraline had expected to come out of that final confrontation without any repercussions; it wasn’t as though the suffocating feeling of the string around her neck being TUGGED by the lone hand was going anywhere anytime soon. She expected, for the first few weeks, to wake up from nightmares. To have to go downstairs, to check to make sure THAT DOOR was still locked. To check and make sure she could hear her father’s snoring from within her parents room ( ensuring that her parents were, indeed, still there ).

“ER...DEPENDS WHAT YOU MEAN BY ‘OKAY.’” Tucking strands of blue behind her ears, Coraline offers a smile, as if to signify that she’s joking. However, given how tired the smile is, given the ever so slight bags beneath her eyes, the uncharacteristic softness of her voice...she isn’t fooling anybody. She knows it isn’t hard for him to see that her loud and excitable personality is somewhat suppressed today- he may have even noticed it yesterday, too, when she had an energy drink in her hand for most of the day. She doesn’t really wish to lie to him ( she has no reason to-- Steve is the one person on this God forsaken world who understands her, who believes her, who listens to her ), and as such she sighs and leans her forehead against his shoulder, before shaking her head. “No-- not really. I know I told you I sometimes get some pretty bad nightmares, about...y’know...” She does a vague gesture with her hand; she’s too exhausted to construct a proper explanation. “And I just....I had one two nights ago. Couldn’t go back to sleep, too worried to sleep more than an hour or two here or there last night. It’ll be fine; it happens. It’s just catching up with me, is all...Nothing to worry about. But thanks for checking in.”

                                      HE’S  NEVER  HUGGED SOMEONE  so  suddenly  and  quickly  before  in  his  life. True,  she  did  startle  him  initially  —  here  he  is  minding  his  own  business,  flicking  through  tunes  on  his  iPhone,  contemplating  what  sort  of  CHAOS  he’s  going  to  get  into  today,  when  a  pair  of  lithe  little  hands  clap  over  umber  gaze.  But  he’d  know  that  voice  &   blue  nail  polish  anywhere.  “CORA!”  It  comes  out  way  louder  than  he  was  expecting,  but  he  doesn’t  think  he  can  be  blamed  for  missing  her.  Arms  entangle  ‘round  the  girl’s  frame,  drag  her  closer  so  he  can  bury  her  in  his  embrace,  presses  little  kisses  to  her  cheeks  and  neck  and  whatever  bits  of  her  face  he  can  find   while  hugging  her  at  the  same  time.  Suddenly  this  day  is  looking   A  LOT  brighter.  “Babe!  How  long  have  y’been  home?!”  Not  that  it  matters,  and  then  comes  his  hands,  rough  and  calloused,  making  to  cup  her  cheeks  and  smooch  her.  “We’s  gotta  get  fast  food  t’celebrate,  our  usual  spot!!  I  missed  y’so  much!”

A HAPPY LAUGH RINGS OUT FROM HER THROAT. The sudden embrace is returned immediately, holding him tightly and basking in the familiar feeling of his arms around her frame. His excitement to see her was relieving; to be a priority in someone’s life was rare for her, after all. But here Steve is, saying her name and peppering her skin with the lips she missed so much. She’s been gone longer than she would have liked-- and while the trip had been good, it shows in the way that she returns his kiss that she’s missed him something fierce. He is her other half; that fact is unlikely to ever change. “I haven’t been home for more than like...an hour, tops,” she says with a bright grin, before leaning forward to press her lips to his again. “Because like hell I wasn’t going to see my favorite person the moment I got back.”

SHE’S LUCKY ENOUGH TO SNEAK UP BEHIND HIM. Her hands cover his eyes for a brief moment, but she’s quick to tell him who’s caught him by surprise ( while she’s not above frightening him, she doesn’t want to cause him too much of a panic ). “Guess who’s back from Michigan?”

        “ YEAH. Yeah, I’m good. “ It was a bit of a relief-- okay, more than a bit-- to have someone come to help just in time. While it wasn’t the first time Coraline had been outside with these things running amuck, it was the first time she’d been noticed by one. “ Guess I’ll need to get a little better at dealing with them. ” Eyes dart to the sparking bear. “ ...Thanks, though. ”

OBLUX & GENUBRIS (wehateourbosses)

A nod, then Genubris stood again, clearing his throat and straightening his suit. 

“Now, about that coffee…” He tried, hoping to change the subject.

Oblux nudged his side, trying not to giggle, but still grinning. He rolled his eyes and pushed her back. Of course she wouldn’t let his moment of kindness go anytime soon.

“I’m sorry as well. I can feel the pain of the scars, but I am not as aware of pain as Genubris is.” She said, offering a comforting smile. “I think after the bonding the two of you had, though, we can try to get to know each other on a ‘not as sad’ level.”

The word ‘bonding’ elicited a scoff from Genubris, but he couldn’t deny that she was wrong. Even as a torturer in hell, and one who abused weakness… Coraline was young and innocent. He had great distaste for children, but she was past that age of being considered a ‘child’ and in the age of learning from mistakes. He just wished she hadn’t have had to make such a horrible one so soon.

“I have chocolate, if that sweetens the deal. I suppose I can share some, if I must…” He offered reluctantly, trying to break his own thoughts. “You can have the cherry ones. Those are my least favorite.”

“As in, he likes them just a little bit less than the others in the box.”

“I am a powerful demon stop talking down about me.”

CORALINE ALLOWS HERSELF A GIGGLE. “Bonding, huh? Is that what that was?” She sounds skeptic, but...leave it to her to have a sentimental moment with a demon. Sounds like a very ‘Coraline-ish’ thing to do. She follows the pair as they begin to walk. 

“So he’s a fan of sweets, then. That’s what you meant earlier, right?” She hadn’t acknowledged Oblux’s comment initially, as she had been too focused on the Beldam ordeal. But now the angel’s words were registering, and Coraline can’t help her smirk. 

“Not exactly something I’d expect out of a demon, but I mean, hey-- to each their own.” She isn’t going to use it to her advantage just yet, but rest assured, she’s taken note of the fact and intends to have sweets handy from now on. 

Just in case she does run into these two again after today.
