Elliot watched the party for a moment longer before he turned to look back at Violet, trying to make sure he didn’t miss whenever he spoke. That’d happened more times than he cared to admit- where he spoke, then glanced away almost as though he expected himself to hear their reply. He watched her lips, making out the words before he let out a soft laugh and nodded his head. “Well, I’m flattered that you feel comfortable around me, Violet.”

Learning that Elliot needed to be able to read her lips, Violet usually tried to make sure that he was looking at her as she spoke, but sometimes she forgot. It seemed like he got most of it though. Smiling when he laughed a little, she liked it when his own laughter made his face light up, finding his smile one of his many good qualities. “You make it easy...I mean, normally a guy like you, I would probably be stammering and far too awkward around, but I feel at ease around you. Probably because we can just talk and there’s no weird stuff.” Violet hoped she was making sense.

I don’t know. I think it’s just that escaping into the world of books is easy for me. There I don’t have to fake confidence or worry about pleasing people...I can just be...If that makes sense. No? Well from what I can tell you’re probably a good person to have as a friend. Of course! I’ll bring them over today after lunch.

Tic nodded, “well that makes sense darlin. There’s a big difference between secluded and full on public.” He remembered Violet being a shyer girl back in academy, though he’d only really known her for a scene back then. But knowing people like Violet and Maisy, he knew the distinction between a few people watching and a whole crowd. He chuckled at her answer, “I mean anything at all. Sex, non sex. Just things you like.”

“Thank you for understanding, Sir,” Violet nodded her head politely, thankful that Tic was as kind as he was. At least to her he always had been. In fact, she didn’t think she’d ever seen him be mean to anyone. “Oh...Well, reading, but I think everyone knows that. I love cooking as well and exploring and traveling. Though the only real travel I’ve done is what we’ve done here at Orenda.”
