The next day, Kirishima went over to Bakugo’s place. He was visibly nervous but he had to complete his part of the deal, especially since you’ve already done your part. Bakugo and Kirishima were sitting across from each other, both with their phones in their hands. Kirishima scrolls through his phone nervously, trying to come up with a way to bring up the situation between you two. He decides to just go for it and clears his throat.

“Ahem… so, when should we all hang out together again?” Kirishima asks, not daring to look at Bakugo just yet. Bakugo tenses at hearing that. Hanging out…together… again? He couldn’t imagine it, things felt awkward with you and him, it’ll only make it worse with everyone together as a group. You wouldn’t know how to act around each other.

“I don’t know,” Bakugo replies dryly. As he continues to stare into his phone.

“Have you uh… talked with Y/n lately?”

“Why?”

“I mean… you’ve both been a little… distant?”

“Why do you care?”

“Well… you’re both my friends of course,” silence lingers for a moment, “so, did something happen between you two?”

“It’s… nothing.”

“Cmon! I know it’s not just ‘nothing’. Aren’t they like your best friend? Your friendship didn’t just break off, did it?” Kirishima finally looks up at Bakugo and takes his silence as an answer. “No way…”

“It didn’t end. We’re just…” Bakugo couldn’t finish his sentence. He didn’t even understand what was going on between you two. Is it really over? Or is this just a temporary distance between each other?

“Just what?”

“I don’t know… and quit asking questions.”

“Listen, I’m just trying to help you both out somehow. You’re my friends but… if you don’t want to talk about it that’s fine too,” just like that, Kirishima gives his phone his full attention again. He tried, but it didn’t seem like Bakugo would budge-

“We had an argument, sort of.” Kirishima immediately puts his phone down upon hearing that.

“What? Seriously? About what?” It was at this moment, Kirishima had seen something he’d never expected to see. Bakugo was… fidgeting? He was fidgeting with his own hands. “Listen man, you don’t have to tell me if-”

“She was hanging out with someone. Someone… I don’t like.”

“Who?”

“Midoriya.”

“Midoriya? I don’t get it, he’s a good guy isn’t he?”

“That’s the problem. It pisses me off” Pisses him off? What the hell does that mean? “Y/n said they were just ‘hanging out’” that’s when it suddenly clicked like a light bulb. Kirishima was putting things together now, was this jealousy Bakugo was experiencing? Or is this something deeper?

“And?”

“It looked more like a date.”

“Bakugo, if Y/n wants to go on a date they can, it’s not our place to tell them who they can and can’t date. I mean Midoriya looks like he would treat them ri-”

“No,” Kirishima is immediately caught off guard by the firm ‘no’. What does he mean ‘no’- “I can’t have that. I can’t… stand it.”

“Why not..?”

“It makes me mad. She has me why would she have to-”

“You like Y/n?” Bakugo’s eyes widen for a moment and he immediately tries to go back to a face of indifference.

“The hell? Of course not. She’s my… best friend. That’s all,” Kirishima smirks at Bakugo’s reply.

“Just a best friend?”

“Yeah, what else?”

“I don’t think a friend would get jealous of who you’d date like that,” Bakugo stops fidgeting for a moment and simply looks down at the palms of his hands. His heart pounding wildly as he tried to focus to calm his racing heart. Is this what it was? “Face it Bakugo, you like her.”

“Do I?” Bakugo asks, his voice shaking slightly. He’s never felt so… vulnerable and exposed. He hated it, this feeling. It seemed like Kirishima knew more about his emotions than himself.

“Seems like it to me.”

“What the hell am I supposed to do?”

“Be a man.”

“What?”

“Y’know, tell them how you feel. Don’t be a coward or else… someone else might get to them before you do” says Kirishima as a way to provoke Bakugo and give him that push. Of course, it totally worked. Bakugo clenched his fists and stood up.

“Like hell I would,” just as Bakugo was about to leave to find you Kirishima grabs him by the wrist.

“Woah hey… you can’t just barge out looking for them!”

“Why not? I need to tell them before… before someone else takes them away from me.”

“I get that but… you both did have an argument and you’ve been awkward with each other for a while now.”

“So?”

“Don’t you think Y/n deserves an apology?” Bakugo goes silent and thinks to himself. He is the reason why you’re both like this now. He let his jealousy overwhelm him and caused a scene.

“What do you suppose I should do?” Kirishima smirks upon hearing the question.

“Surprise them.”

“What?”

“Yeah! Cmon I’ll help you, think of me as your… wingman!”

“Wingman?”

“Yeah, then you can return the favor.”

“Wait- you like someone?” Kirishima blushes profusely at hearing that.

“Well duh. Ashido?”

“Tell me. Why were you with that damn nerd?” Bakugo questions with that intense look in his eyes.

“We were just having a study session and hanging out at the same time” you reply.

“Just? That looked more like a date.”

“It wasn’t! And why are you making such a big deal out of it?”

“I’m not.”

“Yes, you are.” Silence follows… “Well? Are you going to explain it to me?”

“You lied.”

“What?”

“You said you couldn’t hang out because you were ‘studying’”

“I was!”

“Uh huh, I saw you giggling more than I saw you pick up a damn pencil.”

“That’s why it was a study session AND a hang out.”

“You never mentioned it would be with Midoriya though.”

“Does it really matter? He’s my friend too, and he was helping me.”

“Well, I could’ve helped you too y'know.”

“Bakugo, the point was that me and Midoriya were going to hang out and study. We’ve never really hung out before. I see you and hear from you almost everyday!”

“So you’re tired of me, is that it?”

“What? No, stop putting words in my mouth-”

“Sounds like that to me.” Bakugo turns his back towards you to leave, “Go have fun with your little ‘date’” That’s when something clicked in your head.

“You’re jealous. Aren’t you?” Bakugo tenses as he hears the word “jealous” come out of your mouth and he turns around to face you. “That’s why you always act weirdly around Midoriya-”

“I’m not. I-” Just as Bakugo was about to say what he felt, he held back. He couldn’t get the words out of his mouth, he couldn’t even look at you actually. All his anger disappeared for a moment and instead felt vulnerable.

“You what?”

“Nevermind.” He turns around and tries to shrug off the feeling. He couldn’t stay here any longer, he has to leave before he says something he doesn’t want to admit. You watch as he starts walking away and you step forward to grab onto his arm.

“Katsuki…” As his name slips out of your mouth, he gets goosebumps at hearing it. You hadn’t called him that in a while, and as the realization settles in, Oh god. You haven’t called him that since you both- You immediately let go of his arm and you feel as your heart pounds loudly in your chest. Bakugo takes it as a sign to actually leave this time, and he does.

You stand there watching as he walks away while you try to calm your racing heart. You couldn’t believe you just let it slip like that. You take a few minutes to calm down and then walk back into the cafe. There you see Midoriya, completely engrossed in his laptop. You walk up to your shared table and gather up your things.

“Oh, hey! How’d it go?” Midoriya asks as he finally looks up at you.

“It was… I don’t even know actually,” you reply not being able to even look at him.

“I’m really sorry Y/n. I didn’t mean to cause all this-”

“It’s okay! It’s not your fault, Bakugo is just being… a little strange.”

“Strange how?”

“I don’t know, but it’s not your fault,” you pack up the last of your things. “I’m going to go now, okay?” Midoriya nods, understanding you might need some time to yourself, “Thanks for everything” you make your way out of the cafe and walk back to your car.

It’s been a week since you last talked to Bakugo. There’s always this unbearable silence between you two now. He still waits for you outside of your class, but every walk together is silent. Was hanging out with Midoriya that bad? No… there has to be something deeper to this. Something he hasn’t told you yet.

The group has started to notice this distance between you both too. Kirishima was the first to notice & then the rest followed along. Of course, they didn’t want to ask, Bakugo would immediately shut down the conversation anyways. They thought maybe you both just needed a little space? Everything will go back to normal with time, right..?

You lay on your bed doomscrolling through various videos. You find a silly one and you immediately think of sharing it with Bakugo. Your finger hovers over the “send” button, you sigh as you back out on the idea of sending it to him. What if this was it? Your friendship with Bakugo is officially over. No… it can’t be. You’ve known each other far too long to let things just end this way. You both know too much about each other.

You decide to text the next person who's gotten along really well with Bakugo. You go through your contacts and there he is. You click on the nickname “Kiri”, you don’t mean to turn Kiri into you and Bakugo’s “little messenger”, but if anyone besides you can get through Bakugo, it’s him.

Y/n:

Kiriii

Kirishima:

Hey Y/n

What’s up?

Y/n:

Are you busy?

Kirishima:

Not really, I’m at the gym

You rush out of your car, already a few minutes late to your study session with Midoriya at the cafe. You pass through the entrance doors and your eyes immediately scan throughout the shop. A waving hand belonging to Midoriya appears in the center of the shop. You walk over to him and have a seat across from him.

“Glad you could make it! I thought you might’ve changed your mind, haha” Midoriya chuckles.

“Yeah, sorry… I ran into a bit of traffic” you reply apologetically.

“That’s alright! Would you like to order already or…?”

“Yes! I could use a drink right about now.” Upon hearing that, Midoriya calls over a waitress to take the order.

“I’ll have an espresso, please.” The waitress takes note of Midoriya’s order and then faces you.

“I’ll have a macchiato” the waitress nods as she takes note.

“Anything else?” She asks with a smile.

“I’ll have a croissant too” replies Midoriya, “what about you Y/n?”

“I’m okay,” you reply.

“You sure? It’s on me.”

“No, it’s okay”

“Cmon! If not I’ll order a dessert for you anyways”

“Okay, I’ll have a cinnamon roll, please” the waitress smirks as she writes the rest of the order down.

“You two make a cute couple,” says the waitress.

“Oh, we’re not-” before you could even get the words out your mouth, the waitress already walked away. You turn to look at Midoriya who looks like a ticking time bomb ready to explode with how much he’s blushing profusely. There’s an awkward silence and tension in the air. You hated this feeling, if only the waitress hadn’t made that silly comment. Now, this was starting to feel a lot more like a date rather than a simple “study session”. Thankfully, Midoriya clears his throat and decides to be the brave one to break the silence.

“Ahem… so, do you need help with anything? Or do we just start?”

“Oh! Not really, most of it is just memorization for psychology,” you reply with a nervous tone.

“We can help each other if you’d like? I have some flashcards”

“Really? You’re.. Prepared. Not that surprising though…” Midoriya chuckles at the comment as he rummages through his backpack for his flashcards. You spend the next ten minutes practicing with flashcards, taking turns back and forth. Your drinks and pastries arrive and you both take it as a sign to take out your laptops to do some assignments. During that time, you also talk and share a few laughs.

Meanwhile, Bakugo is driving on his way to the theater to hang out with the “Bakusquad”. He parks nearby and crosses the street to get there. As he walks, he passes by a few shops until he comes across a particular cafe. The cafe has a poster hanging on their window, it’s a trending cafe going around social media so he decides to take a picture to share with you later. As he’s about to take the photo, he notices a familiar fluffed up green hair. He zooms into the camera to take a closer look and it's exactly who he imagined it’d be. It’s Midoriya, and right across from him is… you. His eyes immediately widen and an indescribable expression comes upon his face. You’re sitting across from Midoriya, and you’re… smiling? What the hell could a nerd like him have you smiling about?

He puts his phone into his pocket and fights the urge to not just barge in the cafe and confront you about it. You said you’d be studying? What’s this about? You weren’t studying, you were laughing with that damn nerd. Bakugo clenches his fists and watches. He can’t take it anymore, he has to talk to you and ask exactly what the hell is going on.

Bakugo swings the door open and searches for you. Then he hears that familiar voice, your voice. He spots you and walks over to your table. Once he’s in sight, Midoriya immediately tenses as he looks behind you. A raging Bakugo was headed to your table. You look behind you to see what has Midoriya so tensed up.

There he is. Bakugo appears right behind you with an expression you’ve never seen before.

“Hey,” he says, barely being able to keep his cool. He then takes a seat right beside you and faces you. Midoriya simply watches as he sits straight across from you. “Mind telling me exactly what’s going on?”

“Bakugo… I thought you were hanging out with the others…?” You question nervously.

“Don’t change the subject. Tell me. What’s going on between you two? What is this?”

“Bakugo, it’s not what it looks like-”

“Then explain it to me. What. Is. This.”

Midoriya clears his throat to speak. “We’re just-”

“I’m not talking to you. I want to hear it from Y/n” says Bakugo, not even sparing a glance at Midoriya as he cuts him off. Bakugo’s eyes stare into yours, they’re so intense it almost makes you shiver with the way he’s looking at you.

“Bakugo… can we talk about this somewhere else..?” You ask.

“Fine. Where?”

“Outside.” You stand up out of your seat and Bakugo follows your movement outside. You then find an empty area where you both won’t bother others with your conversation. You stand across from each other with a distance between you two. “Bakugo… I don’t understand why you’re so upset-”

“Tell me. Why were you with that damn nerd?”

Just like that, your first month of college flew by. You’ve gotten to know many new people like Midoriya, Kirishima, Ashido, Kaminari, and Sero! You spend the majority of your time hanging out with what Kirishima and Kaminari call the Bakusquad (Bakugo absolutely hates the name). You’ve also gotten closer with Midoriya (mostly because you have him in almost every single class). You’ve noticed how much of a nerd he actually is, but you like it, he’s reliable when you need his help.

Right now, you’re sitting down next to Midoriya during a lecture. Your head swaying back and forth, until your head falls forward and immediately snaps you wide awake. You look around and check if anyone noticed your embarrassing moment. Thankfully, everyone seems to be in their own business. Everyone except Midoriya who seems to be holding his laugh.

“You saw didn’t you?” You ask as your cheeks flush with embarrassment.

“Yeah” Midoriya replies with a small chuckle. “It’s okay, I took notes.”

“Thanks”

The lecture has finally come to an end and you and Midoriya walk out side by side.

“Hey… Y/n?” Midoriya mutters, it’s barely audible to you.

“Hm?” You look at him curiously.

“I was wondering… if you’d want to hang out sometime?”

“Oh! Sure, where?”

“We can hang out at a really nice cafe I checked out recently? Maybe we can study there too?”

“That sounds good. I could use a study session anyways, I’m a little behind…”

“Great! I can help you! How does this Wednesday at five sound? ”

“Yeah, that works for me! Just be sure to text me the address”

“Of course! I’ll see you there”

“See you!” Just as you finish wrapping up your conversation, you spot Bakugo staring at you from a distance. You walk over to him and you’re greeted by that same indifferent expression.

“What’s up with you and nerd?” He asks.

“Nothing, just class and stuff” you reply.

“That it?”

“Yeah? What else?”

“Nothing”

Context:

You and Katsuki have been childhood best friends since elementary. You didn’t go to the same middle school or high school as him but you both kept in touch (your parents). Somehow you both manage to get along despite his short temper and attitude. You also know Izuku from elementary school but you don’t know him that well. You became friends with Katsuki after he had stopped hanging out with Izuku so you have no idea what is going on between them. You and Katsuki both attended cc together and now, you are heading to a four year and lucky you, your best friend, Katsuki will be going to the same one! You’re super excited to finally get to begin your journey towards becoming a pro hero. EXTRA: characters are 21+

You put your phone on your desk and start rummaging through your closet for something to wear. I should've picked what clothes to wear last night… Once you find the perfect outfit for your first day, you get dressed and put on some minimal makeup. Now, it's time to head on over to school. You hop on your car and start driving down the same route you’ve had to memorize since last week.

You arrive at school and stand just outside of the building you’ll be spending most of your time in. You look around to see students walking to their class, and others looking like a nervous wreck. You look at the building in front of you that reads “School of Heroism”. Bakugo hasn’t texted you that he’s arrived so you stand there completely awkward. That was until you spotted a familiar green haired guy with his back towards you. He looked pretty awkward too so you decided to approach him from behind. You tap on his shoulder and he turns around almost immediately.

“Hey… you look familiar?” You ask and when you take a good look at his face… is he… Midoriya? It’s not often you come across a guy with fluffy green hair and freckles.

“Haha… do I?” He laughs nervously.

“Yeah… I’m Y/n by the way.”

“You can call me Midoriya.”

“Midoriya? Is it really you?” He nods. “That’s why you seem so familiar. We went to the same elementary school. Remember?” He thinks to himself, unable to remember. “It’s fine. Don’t worry about it!” Awkward silence follows between you two. “So… you’re also going to be in this building?”

“Oh! Yes. And you?” You nod. “Do you want to head inside now?” Before you accept, you have a small conflict, should you wait for Bakugo? Or just follow Midoriya inside?

“Sure, let's go.” You reply and you both walk inside. Bakugo can always just head inside and we’ll find each other there, you thought to yourself. As you both walk side by side, you take the opportunity to get to know each other a little better. You started to question in your head, wasn’t Midoriya quirkless? How did he manage to even get in? Of course, you didn’t want to ask now, what if he’s still quirkless? Could be a mood killer.

You both arrive at your classroom door and Midoriya knocks. A few seconds pass by as you wait patiently and just as Midoriya is about to knock again, the door swings open. You’re both greeted by the sight of a guy with red spiky hair and a flashy smile spread across his face. His hair almost reminds you of Bakugo.

“Hey! Come in!” Says the guy with spiky hair enthusiastically as he holds the door open for you both.

“Thank you” you and Midoriya both reply in unison as you head inside. You immediately start scanning the room for a certain someone with blonde and uncontrollable hair. You finally spot him across the room in the corner, it seems his eyes were already on you the moment you stepped in. You were about to head on over to sit by him until-

“Y/n, do you want to sit together?” Midoriya asks.

“Oh! Of course, you can sit with me and Bakugo if you’d like.” You reply as you both walk to the corner where Bakugo is. What you don’t notice as you walk his direction, is the way his eyes narrow when he sees you’re with Midoriya. It’s almost as if he was shooting daggers at him. “Bakugo this is…”

“I know who he is. You don’t have to tell me” Bakugo replies and a dead silence follows. You sit down beside Bakugo who's to your left, and on your right sits Midoriya. You could feel a bit of tension in the air, you knew Bakugo could be rude, but this? He’d usually just give a scowl or something not straight up attitude towards someone you’re introducing. You decide to break the tension and start a conversation with Bakugo. However, every time you tried to include Midoriya, Bakugo would just go silent or shrug off whatever he said.

Texts (Bakugo) After School

Y/n:

Bakugooo

Bakugo:

What

Y/n:

What’d you think of our first day?

Bakugo:

It was…okay

Y/n:

Just okay?

Bakugo:

I thought today was great, super fun first day
