RAMBLING ABOUT MEL.KOR'S INTENDED PURPOSE & MOTIVES.

I used to think of mel.kor as being the destruction to erus creation, but the more I think about it, the more I think fanon might be onto something.

Mel.kor is more like chaos than solely destruction. Even more than that, however he is the antithesis to eru. Everything eru is, he is not & vice versa.

Eru made him with all his might as a force to balance his own power, only mel.kor went rogue. He felt so outcasted and sometimes downright despised by the other Valar for being so unlike eru. Something they, and in some ways even eru, fail to fully understand. Eru loved mel.kor, but didn't give him all he needed to be able to thrive. To be happy. And mel.kor hated him for that.

When he first lashed out against Eru during the Ainulindalë, it was because he was angry & tired. Both at never being accepted/understood wholly & at not being able to make as the other valar do. Chaos is change gone awry. He could change, corrupt & shatter to his hearts content. But not create something from nothing. So when Arda was made, he loathed those creations which he envied & sought to either destroy them or change them into something that was his. He wanted to have something that was wholly his like the other valar had but alas he could not. And damn does that make him mad as hell.
