Hi! Just found your blog a couple weeks ago and love your art. What kind of inking do you do, and do you have any tips? (I’ve been trying to get back into using inks and have been Intimidated)

Thank you so much! Here's all the stuff I use for my art:

I use uni pin fineliners for my line art, they're the best waterproof pens out of everything I've tried. I use windsor and newton watercolour paints with very little water to keep the colours really saturated. The brushes aren't anything special, most of them are borrowed (stolen) from way back when I was doing gcse art.

As for inks, they honestly Intimidate me too. My workaround is to use a non-waterproof black pen directly on the paper and then blend it out with a damp brush before it dries:

It's much less stressful than using bottled inks and creates the same kind of effect.

As for tips, I'd say to try not to pick reference photos with even or diffused lighting. Dramatic light and shadow creates a higher contrast, as well as being much more fun to paint. Good luck with your future art! :D
