♞— Dunwall.. What could’ve said to be once a noble proud city seemed now to be just a broken shadow of it’s former self, nothing like the stories Garrett had heard of on occasions before. Course it wasn’t until the assassination of the empress that the city descended into its downfall.
The city was now under a military regime, rats and dogs spread the plague, infecting everyone and spreading like a virus throughout.
The entire city was in turmoil. Though Garrett felt it wouldn’t be long before his city shared the same fate if things continued on the way they were.
Though the thief was not here to try and fix things or help in any way, no. He could care less about the city honestly, see he more saw the situation of everything as an opportunity.
With everything that was going on in this city who would really take notice of a few missing things? With everyone’s attention focused on the assassin no one would suspect a simple thief in town. Seemed almost half the people were dead or sick anyways with the plague, someone might as well make use of the valuables here.
And that’s exactly what he was going to do.
The master thief stood by on one of the high rooftops, scanning over the area he was in. From what he could tell he seemed to be in one of the more higher ups areas of the city, seeing as it was abit more closed off and guarded than the rest of the city, seeing several checkpoints and guards patrolling n such. Which would make things allittle more difficult to get in though but, if things went smoothly they would never even know he was there.
Overlooking things a few more moments before pulling up the mask over his face, pulling out his grappling claw from its sheath and hooking it into the building he rappelled his way down the side of the building, his feet touching the ground below a few moments later as he then gave a yank, whipping the rope and unhooking the claw, stepping aside as it fell and smacked the ground beside him taking a moment and rolling up the rope over his arm and fastening it abit and placing the claw back in its sheath strapped to his leg.
He made his way down a few of the streets, sticking the the alleys when he could and staying in the shadows. He was almost to his target, a rather large estate housing somewhere towards the center of the district.
Hidden in one of the alleys, his back pressed against one of the walls in a little alcove, he was about to make a break for it across the street when quite suddenly a large mechanical leg came stepping into view, giving a clunk as it touched back to the ground. Up at the top of the long slender legs was a soldier, covered by sections of armor from the tall machine, patrolling the area, a hightech bow in his hands. The man turning abit as he scanned over the area, a large spotlight shining where he looked, moving right over the alley that Garrett was in, pressing himself abit more against the wall as it shone over by where he was, staying perfectly hidden in the shadows. Waiting a few moments till the Tall-Boy passed on, taking his chance and darting across the street, fluidly hopping himself up on a cart of stacked boxes and such and scaling over the wall into the next area.
Taking caution to avoid the other guards he made his way around a few of the buildings, finding a drainage pipe along one and climbing his way up it, reaching a higher vantage point on one of the rooftops, making his way across it and scaling back down till he landed on an overhanging balcony.
So far so good, slowly trying the door seeing that it was unlocked and cautiously opening it allittle more only to instantly freeze a moment, having the door cracked he was just barely able to peek in, hearing the voices of two guards as they were talking amongst one another, their backs turned to him.
Slowly opening the door alittle more just enough for him to slip inside, never taking his eyes off of the men as he cautiously entered, still not being noticed by them. He caught part of the conversation as it seemed they were talking about the assassin that was in the city, though nothing of really any concern to Garrett. Pulling out a leather club, the blackjack as he called it he quietly crept up on the two unsuspecting guards. Creeping up right behind them he then stood up and swung the blackjack as hard as he could clubbing one of the men in the side of the head, instantly knocking him out, and with quick speed wrapped his arms around the others neck and brought him to the ground as he held the man in a chokehold, struggling with the man abit till he finally passed out.
Sure he could’ve easily just have killed them, their lives really didn’t mean anything to him but it’s like he always told himself, he was a thief, not a murderer. He tried to avoid killing where it necessary, more so keeping it as a ‘last resort’ type of issue.
With them out of the way, and no one else knowing he was here he took a small breather, scanning around the room abit till he spotted what he was looking for, a smile curling on his lips abit from beneath his hood and mask.
Positioned by the far wall in the room was a very large safe, thinking this particular job was going to be easy. He’d done his research before he came, finding out who were the wealthiest and determining which places would bring the highest value.
Approaching the safe and kneeling down infront of it, he pulled out a couple lockpicks, from a small sheath in his wrist, delicately placing the tools within the keyhole and began working at the tumblers on the lock.
“Let’s see what treasures you hold.” He muttered to himself as he worked on opening the lock.
